“Explain it.”

I thought about it. “Drunk Blair can’t walk straight.”

“And tipsy Blair?”

I smiled. “Can walk straight but sometimes chooses not to.”

His hands tightened slightly around my waist and he kissed me. Even though I could hear screaming children and a group of men arguing over a strike, it was romantic.

By the time we left, we were both tipsy and laughing at everything. He grabbed my thigh and I slapped his hand.

“Keep your hands to yourself.”

“You weren’t saying that twenty minutes ago.”

I wanted to say something smart, but I couldn’t stop laughing when I noticed the Uber driver looking into the rearview mirror.

The car pulled in front of Nash’s house and I had every intention to get in my car and drive home.

“You coming in?”

I had been in his home plenty of times but that night felt real different. Maybe it was the tequila. Maybe it was the way he’d been touching me all night. Maybe it was the way I’d been touching him back. Eventually, grown people who liked each other that much tended to find themselves naked.

I looked at him. “Yeah.”

He opened his door immediately and I laughed. “Damn.”

“I was trying to hurry before you changed your mind.”

We barely made it through the front door before we started laughing again. I bent to remove my heels and almost tipped over, but Nash caught me.

“See?”

“Shut up.”

“You good?”

My hands rested against his shoulders and his were around my waist again. I answered his question by kissing him. Everything after that felt strangely natural. We kissed, we touched, and we laughed when we bumped into furniture trying to make it upstairs.

I tripped over a stair trying to kiss and not look at my surroundings. “This is not sexy.”

“Speak for yourself.”

“I’m fighting for my fucking life.”

He kissed me. “Come here.”

It had been more than two years. Two years since I’d let a man see me like that or touch me like that. It had been two years since I’d trusted anyone with that part of myself. I thought when it happened again, Caleb would somehow be there. Not physically, but in my head. Surprisingly, he was not.

Nash was so gentle with me. He took his time and spoke to me before he did anything to my body. I actually loved that. I was so used to a man taking control, but him guiding and asking me before made me feel some new sense of power. He made sure to kiss me in between each stroke. It’s like he knew how dangerous my mind could get because he’d keep reminding me to live in the moment by saying:“Stay with me, baby.”

That shit had me squirting and squirming left and right. I never imagined my first time after such a long hiatus to feel that good. I was scared that the spider webs and dust would scare him away, but my body remembered how to fuck and I was so proud of her. Before I knew it, he was calling my name and ready to spill his life secrets.

Later that night, I lay with my head against Nash’s chest wearing one of his T-shirts. My body felt comfortable and I couldn’t remember the last time I’d felt that relaxed. The television played some movie neither one of us had been paying attention to.

I looked up. “What?”

“You’re smiling.”
