“Caleb.”

“What?”

“You’re doing it again.”

He smiled then reached into his jacket.

My entire body went still. No fucking way. He pulled out a small box and my heart stopped.

“Caleb.”

“Relax.”

My eyes snapped to his. “Don’t tell me to fucking relax.”

He laughed, but I wasn’t laughing.

“What is that?”

“A box.”

“I can fucking see that.” I held my hand out. “Open it.”

Instead, he slid the box across the table toward me.

“Caleb.”

“Blair.”

“What the fuck is that?”

“You’re gonna have to open it to find out.”

I looked at his left hand to see no ring. Caleb hadn’t consistently worn his wedding band for most of our relationship, but Ravenna still wore hers. I knew that.

I looked back at the box.

“Is this—”

Caleb smiled. “Open it.”

My fingers trembled as I reached for it to lift the lid. It was a diamond ring big enough to make me forget several commandments.

“Oh my God.” I covered my mouth.

Caleb laughed.

“Oh my fucking God.”

“Do you like it?”

“Do I like it?”

I looked at him. “Are you stupid?”

“Occasionally.”

My eyes filled. “Caleb.”
