“What’s going on?”
“Just come here.”
He walked closer and I held out the box. “Open it.”
He looked at me. “Blair—”
“Open the damn box, Caleb.”
He laughed nervously then lifted the lid. He moved the tissue paper and his hand stopped.
He stared at the onesie, socks, and the test.
His eyes widened and looked at me. “Are you serious?”
I laughed and tears filled my eyes. “Yes.”
“You’re pregnant?”
“I took five tests.”
“Five?”
“I needed confirmation.”
His mouth opened and nothing came out. Then he smiled. He was full of nerves. I didn’t think anything of it. I’d nearly had a panic attack in my bathroom that morning.
It was huge and life-changing. Of course he was nervous.
I stepped toward him. “We’re having a baby.”
He stared at me then finally wrapped his arms around me.
I laughed against his chest. He kissed me and rested his forehead against mine. “Wow.”
“I know.”
“Wow.”
I laughed. “That’s all you got?”
He smiled. “I’m trying to process this.”
“I’ve had five hours. You get five minutes.”
He laughed and I kissed him again.
“Thank you, God,” I said.
The words came out naturally while Caleb rubbed my back.
I pulled away and looked at him. “I can’t believe this.”
He picked up the test and stared at it again.
“Baby?”
Caleb blinked back into reality like he’d forgotten I was standing there. “Yeah?”
