Seconds later, Belladonna squealed and squirmed in her seat. Did a badass biker bitch actually make that girlie sound? I ground my teeth. This was turning into a nightmare. Blue had joined them too, along with Priest’s cousin Brielle. This was getting out of hand fast!
Belladonna
I swear my sisters wanted to scream, and that Sapphire intended to kill me. I’d spent a fortune, but I was determined that everyone would have a great time. Although I might have overdone the outside decorations—Wylde had shown me an excellent site.
When the caterer arrived later, Brielle, Wylde, and Blue had chipped in with their own ideas. We decided to cater for one hundred and twenty and pack up leftovers in the industrial fridges we had.
The caterer was delighted to have a kitchen spacious enough for her team. She said she would come and prepare most food fresh that day. Halloween was on a Friday, so we’d have our party on the Saturday.
Sapphire thought she’d got away with a quiet Friday until I suggested movies, hotdogs, burgers, and popcorn like we used to. A flash of nostalgia crossed her face, and I saw her begin to understand. Wylde’s enthusiasm went a long way toward Sapphire accepting it, too.
By the time I hit the sack that evening, I’d confirmed and agreed on a food list. Ordered far too many internal and external decorations. Pulled off cocktails and other alcoholic recipes for the prospects and sat back smugly.
I’d even found a couple of costumes for Birdie, Dagger, Blade, and Sparrow. We’d invite the staff who weren’t working to the party, but some townies would also come; they always did. They’d think they were badass for hanging out around us.
Whatever. I wanted fun and planned to have it!
Fume sounded amused when she rang me the next day. “There’s a truck full of parcels for you. The driver says everything on there is yours; there’s no point in him dropping it at the gate.”
“Send him up, prospect. I’ve been expecting him,” I replied and turned to Brielle.
“Wanna help me unpack, kid?”
“Yes!” She left before I could respond.
“To be that young again.” Gamma sighed.
“I know. Brielle makes me feel old.” I chuckled.
“When does she start school?” Gamma asked.
“Priest is registering her; he is insisting she take some tests before returning so she’s placed in the right class. The school’s fine with that and interested in Brielle. Nun and Priest are going to check it out next week,” I replied.
“The girl needs to make friends. She’s a sociable little thing.” Gamma smiled.
“Yeah. Luckily, her time on the road didn’t disturb her too much. A damn miracle if you ask me.”
Gamma’s face darkened. “A sweet child like that? A predator’s dream.”
“Totally agree. Brielle’s safe now. And she adores Nun, and is emulating her, which amuses Blue and frustrates Priest. He wants Brielle to remain the kid he remembers.”
Gamma laughed. “She’s a teenager, well on her way to becoming a young lady. Brielle’s no longer a little girl.”
“Brielle’s told Nun to hurry up and get pregnant so that Priest can spoil that baby instead.” I chuckled.
“Yes, we need babies,” Gamma agreed. Before she could even ask if I was dating, I headed out. I gazed past the clubhouse to the land in the distance where we planned to build our homes. Several large pieces of equipment sat there; Sapphire and Nun were building houses. Nun was a priority because of Brielle. The girl couldn’t stay in a bunk all her life, and they needed space. Nun hated being in confined places.
My eyes widened when I saw what they were delivering.
“Oh, crap,” I gasped as the drivers slowly emptied the packages. Okay, maybe I went crazy.
“There’s more at the depot. I’ve got to collect them,” the driver said.
Brielle squealed, and I smiled weakly. Oops!
“Can we put them together?” Brielle questioned as the van drove away.
“Need a hand?” Priest asked.
