“Come on, let’s look at ideas,” Kiki said, pulling out her phone.
Mini skull pizzas, eyeball pasta, eyeball skewers, devilled eggs, and ghostly strawberries made the list, along with so much more. I’d not realised how much Halloween-themed food there was. Between us, we crafted a menu, and then I got lost in all the accoutrements that came with it.
Themed cups, plates, napkins, serving boards—I was in heaven. Sighs abounded from my sisters, but I didn’t care. I was having a blast. Gamma was ringing caterers and booked one who agreed to come and see our ideas later that day.
Then I turned to decorations and fell down the rabbit hole.
“How much have you ordered?” Fortune asked, and I glowered at her.
“Why?”
“Just so I can budget for it,” she replied.
“I’m paying.”
Fortune shook her head. “Prez said the club is, so I need all your receipts.”
I grinned wickedly. “In that case.” I turned back to my laptop, and Fortune groaned.
“Sapphire should have set a spending limit on this,” she muttered.
“No budget? Even better, there’d been some animatronics I wanted to order,” I mumbled.
Fortune shook her head. “I’m walking away before I dig a deeper grave.”
“The prospects need to learn to make spooky drinks,” Gamma said, grinning at poor Fortune.
“Great idea! Like those dry ice cocktails!” Kiki replied.
“Exactly.”
I looked up and opened another tab. Down the rabbit hole I marched, once more!

“What on earth is going on?” Hayden Wylde, my man, asked as he entered the clubhouse after his shift.
“I was an idiot,” I moaned, and he chuckled, wrapping me up in his warm embrace and kissing me.
“Not my girl,” he muttered against my lips.
“Oh, I was—so, so stupid.”
“What did you do?” Hayden inquired, amused.
“I permitted Belladonna to have a Halloween party. She’s spent five thousand on decorations so far and is showing no signs of slowing down. I mistakenly failed to set a budget.”
Hayden lit up. “Halloween party?”
I eyed him warily. “Yes,” I drawled.
“Decorations?”
“Yup.” I pulled a pouty face.
Hayden let go of me and gave me a distracted peck on the head. What the fuck was that? “Belladonna!” he called, striding over to her and sitting down. “I have some sites for you to check out.”
What. The. Hell? My man had just deserted me for Halloween!
