Groans met her statement as I shook my head. Belladonna was going to get some payback. She’d earned that and then some, but I had to admit. It had been a great trick.
“Fuckin’ zombies,” Tinkerbell muttered. She was moving away from Teddy, who looked amused.
As I glanced at my sisters, I knew some home truths had arisen. I wasn’t the only one attracted to a cop. But I’d bide my time. They’d fight it for now; that was how they rolled! Bitches!
Epilogue.
Belladonna
That had been such fun. Some were mad, but they were beginning to come around. I had so many ideas for next year, though they wouldn’t be as easy to trick next time. I was laughing as I exited the clubhouse. Everything remained calm, and I could hear the traffic in the distance. The moon lit the sky, and the stars twinkled. The night was cool, and I shivered as I took in the fresh air.
“That was a good one,” Sapphire said, approaching me.
“Yup. Learned some interesting stuff, didn’t we?”
“You already knew,” Sapphire accused.
“The worst thing about being a telepath is the fact that the world doesn’t shut up. I’ve one of the strongest shields around, and strong thoughts can still filter through. Even here, with everyone using their own shields, I continue to sense things. I need my anchor before I go crazy,” I murmured.
“Are they that bad?”
“More intrusive. My anchor will keep my shield solid, and no danger will ever get through. But I’ve no idea where to start looking for them,” I replied.
“What can we do?”
“Nothing, Prez. Tonight, let me release a lot of that pent-up shit. I feel empty and fresh, if I make sense.”
“You do, Bells. There is somebody for you out there; we’ll find them,” Sapphire promised.
“If I have someone, then they’ll turn up before I crack under the pressure,” I said with a small smile.
“Then get ready, because they’ll cross your path soon. I feel it.”
I wrapped my arms around Sapphire and leaned my head on her shoulder, and together we watched the stars light up the sky.
