The orgasm crashes through me harder than I’ve ever felt. Heavy, pulsing waves rip me apart as I spill inside her, pulse after brutal pulse, emptying myself completely. My whole body locks up, muscles straining, vision whiting out. For a few blinding seconds there’s nothing but her tight heat, her soft moans, and the overwhelming rush of giving her everything.
I’ve never come like this. Not even close.
When the last shudder finally fades, Carmen collapses onto my chest, both of us damp with sweat and breathing hard. For a long moment, neither of us moves.
She reaches up and gently unties my wrist. The second my arm is free, I wrap it around her and pull her tight against me. She melts into me, soft and warm, her cheek resting over my heart.
Everything goes quiet.
There’s nothing in my head but the steady rhythm of her breathing and the feeling of her skin against mine. My mind is completely empty. Peaceful.
I press a slow kiss to the top of her head and close my eyes, breathing her in. Nothing has ever felt like this.
I hold her for as long as she’ll let me, running my hand gently up and down her back.
Eventually she whispers, “You should get back. I don’t like you being away from Theo for too long.”
The words tug at something deep in my chest. I don’t move. Part of me wants to say that Theo is fine, that I can stay another hour, or all night. Instead, I tighten my arm around her for one more second and let her go.
Before I can force myself up, she leans in and kisses me. When she pulls back, her fingers thread gently through my hair as her eyes search mine.
“I’m really glad I met you,” she says.
My throat tightens.
Then she’s sliding off me completely, and the loss of her warmth hits harder than it should.
The second I step inside my house, I lean back against the door and close my eyes.
Carmen is still all over me—her scent on my skin, my shirt, my hands. Her soft I’m really glad I met you loops through my head on repeat.
For a long moment I just stand there in the dark, trying to hold onto the peace she left in me. But it’s already slipping.
I know what I have to do.
I push off the door and cross the kitchen, grabbing my phone off the counter. The screen lights up, harsh in the darkness.
I’ve been dragging this out for weeks.
No more.
Time to get this over with.
I call Ray before I can talk myself out of it.
He picks up on the second ring. “Tell me it’s done.”
I stare at the floor. The silence stretches between us.
“Well?” he snaps. “Did you fuck her or not?”
“No,” I say, voice flat. “Nah. She wouldn’t fuck me.”
