He was a brat.
How did that happen?
Shiloh and I were so nice, but Raxius…he was difficult.
He continued to be difficult by giving me looks and walking away every time I got close to him to demand information. That needed to be a rule. If I wanted information I should get it and we were going to discuss that when we got to our quarters.
His frustrating behavior was so strong Shiloh was even pressing his lips together and doing his best not to look at us.
Even Shiloh thought Raxius’ behavior was highly inappropriate.
“Will you bring back more pictures when you return?” Baldron paused as he studied Shiloh’s phone device before looking up at our mate. “You will return?”
Yes, that was the place to start.
“Yes.” Shiloh’s smile was shy but he glanced over at us confidently. “My mates are here but…but the plan is to go back and forth.”
Since we were in agreement and Baldron used Earth-based movements easily, I nodded. “We will work out a schedule and a list of what we should bring back from Earth.”
Raxius sighed as he walked to stand by me. “Like chicken nuggets and more books.”
Agreed.
Baldron chuckled. “I look forward to trying them.”
“Several…several of the children talked about liking bread and strawberry jam.” Swallowing, Shiloh looked nervous as he offered the information. “I’ll bring those next time so you can try them. The…first generation on Earth wrote diaries about what they were learning and feeling but children…well…they mostly wrote about food and random things.”
The ancient dragon tried to look pleased but I could see something I thought was pain in his eyes. I’d just never seen the emotion firsthand. “I look forward to hearing anything you can tell me.”
The room was emptying quickly but Shiloh still looked around and studied those around us. “I don’t know how to respond to that.”
Because of privacy?
Admittedly, I did not use many spells but I could do that for our nervous mate. “One moment.”
Closing my eyes, I focused on the magic I rarely used and built the privacy spell that was sometimes used when studying sensitive matters. “We now have privacy.”
Raxius sighed…again. “Unless you would like Zorin and me to stand outside the shield?”
Oh.
No.
That would be unacceptable.
Shiloh giggled quietly but quickly looked to Baldron and raised one eyebrow questioningly. The old dragon smiled. “Mates cannot have secrets.”
“Thank you.” Looking and feeling calmer, Shiloh settled on the floor with his legs crossed the way the people of Earth always seemed to sit. “Most of the physical diaries were lost about a hundred years after the portal closed but I can repeat what they said if you would like. Those haven’t been physically transcribed, so I don’t have any actual book to give you.”
What?
How?
Raxius went physically still and mentally quiet, but I wasn’t sure if we were both confused about the same things.
Baldron let out a long breath and nodded. “Not everything. I know that’s not reasonable but sections from anything you have would be appreciated.”
He was downplaying his response if I was understanding the situation correctly.
