He looks concerned. “Was he being pushy?”
“No, nothing like that. To be honest, he was kind of cute.” He frowns deeper. “But I just don’t have time for dating or anything like that at the moment. And I am soooo not into one-night stands, so I had to gently tell him no.”
Callum nods. “I get it. I don’t know if you know this, but I’m actually like a mega famous pop star.” He gives me another of his wolfish grins, and damn, I’m just about drunk enough to mirror it.
“I did know that actually.” I play along.
“Yeah, but with that comes a lot of attention.”
“Callum, no man on this campus is going to convince me that being constantly pursued is, on net, a hardship. From what I’ve heard, you have not exactly been suffering through it.”
“What have you heard?”
“Well, you obviously get a lot of women. It’s not like it’s a secret.” I don’t know why saying it out loud makes my face burn. I swear he’s inched closer, and something about his presence sets my nerves on edge.
“Oh yeah?” He maintains eye contact with me. “What specifically?”
“Thhhings.”
“What thhhhiiings?”
“Sydney has reported, with a few too many details, that you slept with seven girls in your first week here.”
“Lie.”
“Seriously?” My eyes widen.
“Seriously. It was three.” He licks his lips. “Next.”
“There is also a girl on Sydney’s TikTok feed who claims you gave her ten orgasms in a single night and asked me, as Sydney’s resident medical-adjacent roommate, to confirm whether it was physiologically possible.”
“And?”
“I told her it was inconclusive.”
He laughs.
“What do you mean inconclusive?”
“Inconclusive means maybe. I did the research. The literature is—variable.”
Maybe it’s true.
Why are we having this conversation? Where is everyone else? Has this room suddenly got super hot?
He inches closer still. I hold my breath.
“Now, if anyone could do it, I’d back myself. After all, guitar players are very talented with their fingers.” My ovaries might combust. He sighs. “I’m afraid it’s a lie too.” He looks at my mouth. I swear he does. “I think my record is five.” Oh my.
My voice comes out higher than I would like. “Five?”
“Five.” He grins.
“What about the foursome?” I blurt out before putting a hand over my mouth. Oh, Terrible Trixie is out tonight for sure. In full freakin’ force. Asking questions to a world-famous popstar and tutee.
He barks a laugh. “The what?”
“The foursome. One guy. Three girls.” I don’t know why my mouth keeps moving.
