The others must have sent her in to see where we’ve got to.

“Cheese is always an important subject to talk about,” Jensen retorts, pointing the tiny amount of cheese he has left at her and trying not to smile.

Zemi shrugs as she eyes the cheese, I can’t tell if she’s worried Jensen is going to throw it at her or if she wants some.

“You make a valid point,” she concedes. “And under any normal circumstance I would agree with you. However, I do have to disagree with you this time. I would like to get this fucker put down for good and dismantle this whole fucking organization once and for all.”

Jensen grins and throws the last piece of cheese into his mouth. “Good point. Let’s go.”

I check my weapons one last time, pick up my sniper rifle case, and then head out of the door.

I studiously refuse to look in Liam’s direction as we split up into the cars and then head to the area where we're going to park the cars and do one final quick run through the plan, before we all have to split up to go to the places where we’re going to be watching everything from.

I hate splitting up, but it’s necessary.

Ever

Rage is going with Atlas as backup, and because we don’t want to send anyone off alone.

Apart from Liam.

We have no choice but to send Liam in alone, and to be honest, that’s not sitting right with any of us.

Getting in is going to be tricky.

There are nine of us, as well as Alaric, Liam, Zemi, and her team, and we all need to be inside the gates and spread out throughout the dockyard. This is a massive place, so once we’re inside, it’s easy for us to spread out, and there should be plenty of places for us to go unnoticed, but getting into the yard carries a lot more risk.

Fortunately, we have Pete.

“Alright, Pete’s got the cameras here, here, and here looped.” Trick says as he points to the laptop screen that's sitting on the hood of one of the cars and we’re all gathered around. He continues, “We can only loop them for ten minutes tops. So when Pete presses the button, you guys have to hustle to get over the fence and into the yard. If anyone sees you, disarm them, knock them out, and put them somewhere where it isn’t going to raise the alarm. We won’t be able to send anyone in to pick them up and get them out of the way until Hunt is dealt with. Now that we’ve had to move the timeline, we have the benefit of it getting dark to help us. The sun is already setting, and it should be completely dark when you’re all in your positions. Be alert. It helps us hide, but it will also help to conceal people who want to sneak up on you.”

“Got it. How far away are the points of entry from where each of us is stationed?” I ask.

“I’ve got maps for each of you,” Pete says, as he hands one out to each of us. He looks at Zemi and the guys. “I’m really sorry, guys. For some reason, he’s got the cameras at the back where you’re supposed to enter on a different loop than the others. I can’t get into it without more time, and we’re running out of that.”

Wilder surprises me when he grins, “Don’t worry, we’ve got this.”

“Are you sure? I . . .” Pete starts.

Raid nods, “Trust us, we’ve got it. We’ll be in position and ready to keep watch on Ever.”

“You’re not just there to watch me,” I point out with a smile.

Mr. R shakes his head. “Yes, they are. Their main priority is making sure that Hunt doesn’t get his hands on you. We cannot allow that.”

Alaric clears his throat. “It was a condition of Liam’s. He wouldn’t help unless you had your own team to ensure that no one from Hunt’s team got near you. It was just a happy coincidence that you were already going to do it.”

Everyone turns to look at Liam in shock, and he shrugs, “I’ve been watching over you since you were eight years old Some things have become habits.”

I frown slightly. “Thank you.”

He nods, but doesn’t say anything, and I share a look with Atlas. This is not the time to get all up into that because actually that was super sweet.

It’s also true.

Whenever Liam could watch out for me, he did.

Liam looks at Alaric and smacks him on the back of the head. The gesture is such a big-brother thing to do that I can’t help the laugh that escapes me.
