“I’ve called it in to Mr. R, and he’s going to get Oberon and his team to look for her and bring her in. She’s stepped up her game, and she’s dangerous. I also warned him that there is a really good chance that she’s a lot more capable and a lot less naïve than she has led anyone to believe,” Trick says immediately when we come into view. “He said that there are people keeping an eye on the airport to make sure that she doesn’t try to head out that way still.”
“I thought there was only one team on the island?” Jensen asks, looking confused.
Trick nods, and then explains. “There is, but apparently there are others that he trusts here that are keeping an eye on the airport for us.”
“Fair enough,” Rafe replies. “They must be pretty special if Mr. R trusts them.”
“We need to move her car off the road and out of the way,” Atlas adds, as he glances over at it. “There isn’t a cleanup crew here. The team handles everything, and they’re busy at the moment. Plus, we don’t want to make life harder for them when we’re quite capable of doing it ourselves.”
“Well, she didn’t take the keys with her, so that can be sorted easily enough,” Jensen replies as he heads over to the car, hops in, and then moves to the side of the road, making sure that it is well out of the way.
“It’s weird that no one stopped to check it while we were in the woods,” Cash says, glancing up and down the road.
“This road is pretty quiet. If anyone went past, they might have just called it in to the local authorities instead. I’m sure Mr. R has already thought of that and is dealing with them already,” Pete says with a smile. He looks at his watch, “We need to get going. I am more than ready to head home.”
“Oh god, me too,” I reply.
We all head back to the cars and get in.
“Reg is going to be pissed we made him wait,” Cash mutters, speaking about our pilot.
“We tried,” I say. “It was for a good reason.”
“I have some cookies I found in one of the stores, I’ll bribe him with those,” Rafe grins as he starts to rummage in his bag to get them ready to bribe our surly pilot.
“He loves dogs too. He’s got like five, I think. So he’s going to love Wyn,” Luc says, cuddling the puppy.
“How did she handle it?” I ask, reaching back and giving her some love too, and earning kisses.
“Surprisingly well. She stayed in the car even with the doors open, down in the footwell so she was protected, and then followed us through the woods silently when I called her to come,” Luc explains proudly as he gives her extra pets for being such a good girl.
“Wow. I bet she’s been trained,” Pete adds, sounding impressed. “It certainly seems like it.”
“If she has, she’s picked everything up incredibly quickly, she’s still young,” I point out. I didn’t know that you could get puppies trained at her age, but you clearly can.
“Yeah,” Luc agrees. “I just think she was made for us.”
“She definitely is your dog,” I agree with a smile. “She adores you.”
“Good, I adore her too,” Luc smiles as we finally pull into the airport and see our plane waiting for us.
“Let’s go home,” Cash smiles as he stops the car in the airport parking lot.

We get home late.
We all shared what we had bought on the island when we were in the air, and it was pretty much what I thought everyone was going to get. Rafe picked up spice blends, and a special kind of knife for cooking, not stabbing, I checked, and several recipe books. Trick found some pieces by a local artist that he loves and bought two or three huge original pieces that he’s having shipped to the address that we get that sort of thing shipped to, so we don’t have our address down anywhere.
Cash found some music that he wants to try to play, and an absolutely beautiful guitar. Riot and Atlas basically got snacks, local ones, and some wine that they want to try. Atlas also got a set of throwing knives, and I have no idea where the hell he found them, but he’s over the moon, and Rage got a book on the island so we know what to do when we come back, and snacks.
Luc got some gorgeous leather boots and a book about the island’s myths and legends, which I made him promise that I could borrow, and Pete picked up a lot of gorgeous clothes, completely unique and absolutely stunning.
I managed to get some sleep on the plane, so I don’t feel as awful as I could, but I am so tired.
Despite the time that we get back, Pete insists on being dropped off at his house so he can get everything ready for Elijah. Usually, when we get home this late and Eli isn’t at home, he stays with us.
I get why he wants to go home though.
