“Oh, this is adorable,” I exclaim as I jump out of the car as soon as it stops so I can get a better look at the place that we’ll be staying for however long it takes to get the information that we need.

“I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t a shack on the beach,” Riot says with surprise.

“It’s a bit bigger than a shack, but it’s definitely weather-beaten,” Trick counters.

“It’s only got three bedrooms,” Pete adds. He’s already looked up the information about the house, he always tries to get as much information on the places that we’ll be staying as he can. He continues, “There’s only one safe house on the island because it’s so small. I would imagine that’s why it’s in the middle of nowhere.”

“Wouldn’t that make it more obvious?” Rafe asks.

Pete shrugs, “Apparently not. It’s still being used as a safe house.”

“Well, I think it’s awesome. We’re only here for a couple of days, and I don’t mind sharing with you guys,” I say, wriggling my eyebrows suggestively and making them chuckle.

Pete rolls his eyes and tries not to laugh at my antics. He is more than used to us now.

“Let’s unload the cars and go over the plan,” he says with a grin.

“Yes, sir,” I tease, and he sticks his tongue out at me before flipping me off and making me laugh.

We travel light when we do these sorts of things, especially since we’re only going to be here for a couple of days. In fact, the majority of what we brought with us is weapons. At least that’s definitely the case for Jensen, Atlas, and me.

We always tend to go more weapon-heavy than the others, although none of the others exactly pack light when it comes to weapons. We’re all very fond of them. I have my favorites though, the ones that I have to bring to every job, and I like to be prepared for every eventuality, and that requires choice.

It doesn’t really.

If I had to, I could take someone out with something that probably isn’t even considered a weapon, the point is that I like having choice.

It doesn’t take long to get ourselves sorted, and the bags inside. The organization keeps all of their safe houses well stocked, and this one is no different. They tend to keep them stocked with local foods as well as food from various other countries so that there is always something familiar. Since most of our agents come from the training facility back home, there tends to be a larger array of foods from there.

I love trying all of the local stuff that the safe houses are stocked with, but right now I need coffee.

A lot of coffee.

To be honest, when do I not?

Happy, I need coffee.

Sad, I need coffee.

Mildly inconvenienced, coffee.

Been stabbed, as long as I’ve got a coffee, I’ll be fine.

The guys looked at me like I was fucking crazy the last time that happened. It was one of our earlier cases with the organization, and they weren’t the only ones who looked at me like I was nuts.

Whoops.

I don’t ask for coffee when I get injured anymore. Even though I am convinced that it helps.

“Ever?” Riot asks curiously, and I realize that I’ve zoned out.

Taking the steaming mug of coffee off him, I grin, “Sorry, I was thinking about coffee.”

“Of course you were,” Rage smirks.

“Hey, you have a cup too, and yours is already only half full. I am not the only one who has a coffee problem,” I point out, my lips twitching as I fight a smile.

He pulls a contemplative face as he stares down into his cup. “Is it half full or half empty?”
