“Oh, wow,” she said.

The waitress dropped off our order, halting the conversation. The plates were loaded with six different desserts. She didn’t give us a description but that only made it more fun. I slid a huge hunk of chocolate cake my way while Blake snagged some sort of cake that looked like a mango.

"That looks interesting," I told her, pointing at the orange-green cake now in front of her.

"You want to try it first?" she asked with an arched brow.

"Only if you try mine, but we have to do our best not to let the other know the side effects," I reminded her.

"You just want to steer the conversation from the mirror," she teased as her fork plunged into the fudge cake.

I pursed my lips together and shrugged at her, "Maybe. It's time to get out of our heads for a bit. I didn't want to forget to tell you."

"I get it. I need this, too. I've been getting weird vibes from a new mind here in town. Like I'm being watched," she admitted as she raised the fork to her lips.

She moaned as the cake landed on her tongue as soon as she shallowed, she said, "Oh, goddess, that was better than sex."

I raised a brow at her, "I think you haven't had good sex."

"It has been a while," she laughed.

"Not your fault, it's hard to find your mates when you are confined to a small town. I just got lucky," I reassured her before getting serious. She couldn’t just say she had a stalker and shift past it. "Tell me more about being watched."

"Maybe not watched, I don't know. It's just a weird feeling I get at times. No words or emotions. Now stop stalling and try mine," she ordered and pointed at the mango on her plate.

"We are coming back to this tomorrow," I told her as I cut a little piece with my fork so I could try it.

Once it made it in my mouth, I let out a sigh of content before I burped and bubbles formed. This was new.

There was a questioning look on Blake's face before she broke out in a fit of giggles. That was something normal.

Another burped escaped as well as colorful bubbles this time, even a few that were shaped like hearts and stars.

"Damn you, I'm just glad that these aren't hiccups," I laughed, pointing at my best friend.

"Bubbles are better than more chickens, huh?" she questioned, still giggling.

I took a bite of my chocolate cake and the bubbles stopped and I was the one in a fit of giggles.

"Your turn for the bubbles," I told Blake. "Then we pick another one."

There was a strawberry cheesecake that was calling to me from the plate in the middle of the table.

"Got your eye on another sweet?" she asked.

"How'd you guess?" I countered with unavoidable giggles.

With one last giggle, she let out the loudest burp in the quiet cafe and a carved pumpkin formed from the bubbles.

"Impressive," I commented and stabbed the cheesecake, getting a strawberry for good measure.

Once I placed it in my mouth, I was taken back to my childhood and playing hide and seek with my brother. A tear ran down my cheek as the scene played on for just a few minutes.

"Prue, why are you crying?" Blake asked, wiping the tears with a cloth napkin.

"It's not me, it was the cheesecake. I didn't realize the chef was going through heartbreak," I told her with a huff before taking another bite of the chocolate cake. I'd rather giggle to death than cry in public.

"What did you see?" she asked.
