"They already grew this week, how did they make that sound?" Rook questioned. He was far too amused by the gravity of the situation.

"Those things out back are chickens?" Dorian asked, a bewildered expression on his face.

"What did you think they were?" Merrick inquired, equal parts amused and wary.

"Turkeys or small ostriches? Freaked me out a little, so I just rushed in," Dorian explained. “That and my wolf wanted to eat them.”

Rook stifled a laugh as I elbowed him in the ribs.

"What? Even in my wolf form those things were huge," he kept going.

I moved beside Dorian and patted his hand, "Don’t worry, sweetie, I'll protect you."

"Oh, so these two can make fun of me?" Dorian asked, pointing at his brother and Merrick.

Rook had a hand over his chest, trying to act innocent and asked, "What? Me?"

"How'd I get lumped in with him? I just wanted to know what you thought they were. I didn't mean anything by it. I vote we have Rook go check on his pets," Merrick said, holding up a hand in the air.

Rook rolled his eyes. "They were a product of Prue's magic, why can't she help?"

"Because, I'm the head fort maker. How can it be built without me?" I smirked at him.

He started to argue but closed his mouth again and Rook said, "Fine, but if you hear screams of terror, you three better avenge me."

I glanced at Dorian and questioned, "Is he always this dramatic?"

He nodded and said, "More-so."

With that Rook squared his shoulders and disappeared outside.

"Do you think we should go with him?" Merrick asked with genuine concern. That cluck sounded as if they’d grown to the size of a bear now.

"I say we wait for the screams," Dorian said with a wolfish grin. The sibling rivalry was going strong.

"Why don't you go help him, Dorian?" I told him, more than asking. "Merrick and I’ve got this handled. You’re a strong alpha. Protect us.”

"Who's going to save me if I need it?" Dorian asked under his breath as he followed the trail that his brother took.

"Did you just want to get me alone?" Merrick questioned as he took a step towards me.

"Yes," I said, moving to the fort. "You're the only one that seemed interested in helping me finish this thing."

"Oh," he sighed out as he trailed behind me.

We layered the blankets with and without magic, turning the fancy living room into a witchy omega’s dream. Between the layers of soft and silky fabrics, and the vibrant colors, it looked inviting. We pinned back the entrance enough we could snuggle in and still see the giant TV he had.

Then we moved on to the inside. Now that I’d used a bit of magic it was like I couldn’t stop. The familiar warmth of it coursing through my veins was something I didn’t know how much I missed.

Or how much I needed it.

Witches were meant to surround themselves with magic. To enchant and charm their way through life. Otherwise, we were no different than the humans.

I knew an enchantment that could make the inside of the fort larger so we could accommodate the alphas.

Magic thrummed in me and I raised my hands, but paused and turned to my beta.

"Can you please hide behind that doorframe?" I asked Merrick, not wanting to hurt him if the spell went array.
