“It’s not porn!” Abby huffs indignantly. “It’s a Christmas movie. I just paused at a bad time.”
“Sure, whatever you say.” Luka spins to face us and saunters over to the couch. “Can I just…” He lifts Abby’s legs and takes a seat, pulling her feet to rest in his lap. “Ahh, perfect. I love snuggling up to watch Christmas porn.”
“It was a Christmas movie, and it was basically over.” Abby laughs awkwardly, using the remote to back out to the main menu. “But we can find a new movie. That way, we can all start and finish together.”
Finishing together is important.
If we knew each other better, I’d pick on her about only watching porn with me.
Goddammit.
Maybe I need an etiquette class or something.
“It really is best not to leave anyone out,” Luka says. “All right, what are our options?”
Law glares, flicking his gaze between me and Luka. “The schedule says we’re supposed to be doing something else entirely. Watching a movie isn’t until seven-thirty, but whatever. I can be flexible. It’s not even my schedule.” He continues on, grumbling under his breath as he makes his way to the big-ass chair he always sits in.
Abby laughs, tosses the blanket onto Luka, and climbs off the couch before making her way over to Lawson.
He leans back, quirking an eyebrow.
She doesn’t hesitate to climb onto his lap. Sitting sideways, she leans into his chest and stares up at him. “I appreciate a schedule as much as the next girl, but I also have to ask. Where is my dog?”
He chuckles. “Last I saw, they were in Shadow’s room. I already smelled like wet dog after I took them out, so I brought them in and dried them thoroughly. Then I smelled like dog and was covered in fur, so I went to take a shower.”
“Thank you for taking care of Echo. You’re incredible with dogs.” Abby stretches up, pecking a kiss on his cheek just above where his beard ends.
“She has a little storm anxiety,” he says, and I swear I can see his face turning red from here. “Or maybe it’s from being in a new environment. Either way, they were both tired out and resting. I didn’t put up the gate, so they’ll come looking for us eventually.”
“That shit is baffling,” Luka whispers, leaning close to me as he nods at Lawson and Abby. “He won her over so damn fast.”
I chuckle. “They really must have bonded during the last storm.”
“Okay, it’s time to bust out the gifts,” Luka says.
I nod.
Yeah, probably.
It really is a good thing that she’s so comfortable with Law.
She’s starting to get there with me and Luka, but I don’t want to be left behind completely. It’s hard for alphas to share when bonds aren’t in place. Once the pack experiences an emotional connection through the omega, it’s supposed to help. Until then, we’re all a bunch of possessive assholes trying to remind our instincts that the other guys she likes aren’t enemies.
Abby runs her fingers through Law’s thick beard, and I have the irrational urge to punch him in the throat.
And the kidney.
Simultaneously.
Jesus.
It’s a good thing for her to feel so at ease around Law. It’s just, no matter how hard I try to remind the more primal parts of myself of that, they don’t seem to remember for longer than three minutes.
“Get your ass up and help me move the boxes,” I mutter to Luka.
It’s time to flat-out ask if she’s interested in having the three of us court her.
