They fucking better not be.

I did all the dishes, then did the heavy lifting to dig our courting gifts out of the closet.

This is on the goddamn schedule.

I will do it with or without Luka and Lawson. Although I can’t really hand over the gifts without Abby.

I’m annoyed as I peek around to see which holiday movies are available.

I could go with something light and family friendly…

There’s also a new paranormal rom-com about a woman who falls in love with a pack of reindeer shifters.

Yanking out my phone, I search for reviews. They don’t disappoint, ensuring me that it’s sexually charged and only recommended for adults.

Noise comes from the hallway that leads to the garage, and I lean around over the arm of the sofa, trying to figure out who that is.

Abby lights up when she spots me. “I took a wrong turn.”

“It happens.” I chuckle, settling back into the cushion as she comes into the room.

She’s in a different outfit than what she was in when I saw her last, and her hair is damp, making it seem much curlier than when it’s dry.

She comes over, taking a seat on the cushion closest to me. Reaching behind her, she grabs the throw blanket and tosses it over her legs.

Abby is definitely omega coded. She loves to snuggle under a blanket, but I’m always available if she needs extra warmth.

“You good?” I ask, holding back a laugh.

“Yep.” She nods dramatically. “Where are the others?”

“Law is probably with the dogs. Luka, I actually have no idea, but he has been known to enjoy an afternoon nap more often than anyone else I’ve met, outside of toddlers.”

“That’s really cute,” she says, wiggling like she’s trying to make a butt groove on the cushion. “Sorry it took me so long. I realized I had a chunk of frosting in my hair, so I washed it, but then I realized it would frizz if I didn’t condition it. Then I got my clothes wet while I was trying to wash my hair, and I was like, screw it. I’m putting my comfy pajamas on.”

“I love it.” I wink. “Next time, give me some warning, and we can have a movie afternoon in our pajamas.”

“That sounds like a date.” She grins, peeking at me out of the corner of her eye.

It only lasts a second, but it fully convinces me that Abby wants to be courted…

By us.

It’s nice to have a little reassurance that she won’t freak out when we hand over the multitude of gifts I’ve been collecting since I met her.

Lawson added a bunch to the pile, and I’m sure Luka will too, if he hasn’t already.

“What did you pick?” Abby asks, nodding at the TV.

I snort. “How adventurous are you, pretty girl?”

“I’ll try anything once.”

“Perfect,” I purr, grabbing the remote and pressing play. “We’re about to watch one poor lost traveler get snowed in with a pack of reindeer shifters.”

“Oh my god.” She claps. “Is it Sleigh My Heart? Please tell me it is. I saw a preview for that one. The CGI was so bad, I was dying. I love cheesy romance movies, like the more preposterous the better.”

“That’s the one,” I agree as my heart beats funny.
