If she is?

Well, I’ll be as polite to her as she’s been to my omega.

I spend my free time working with Echo and setting up the house for Abby’s arrival.

The storm is still headed our way, and even though it’s not set to hit until tomorrow afternoon, Luka is supposed to bring her and Echo home with him tonight after work.

I’m a nervous mess, but being proactive always helps me feel less out of control.

Having her in our space is going to take some getting used to, especially the not hovering part. Mostly, I just need to ensure everything is set up in a way to be as comfortable as possible for her.

Another worry popped up last night when I remembered that omegas have heats every three months. There’s a possibility that she takes suppressants. If she doesn’t and a heat starts, she would be in for a world of pain and discomfort if she tried to ride it out alone.

That thought is terrifying, but hopefully, we’ll woo the hell out of her during the storm, and she’ll never want to leave. If we can swing that, we’ll be available for whatever she needs from here on out.

I may have gone a little overboard with my purchases, at least based on Bryant’s laughter when he spots me toting the massive shipping boxes through the living room.

“Damn, man. What the hell did you buy?” he asks. “I ignored it yesterday when the FedEx guy was looking like he wanted to shank me with all the boxes he had to unload. Now you’ve got a whole new set today. Is all of that for Abby?”

“No,” I lie.

Okay, it’s more like stretching the truth.

I’m fairly sure at least one of the boxes contains the new bed that I bought for Echo.

The rest is for Abby, but he should keep his mouth closed if he wants to claim any of the multitude of gifts that I bought are from him.

I’m not a selfish packmate.

I understand this is a team effort to win her over, but if he heckles me, he can spend his own money and pray his purchases arrive before the storm.

“You are such a shit liar,” Bryant says, chuckling. “Okay, so what did you get? Need any help putting it together?”

“You can help me hang the curtains in the nest,” I say, nodding. “There’s also probably twenty loads of laundry to be done before we stock the shelves in the nest. If you’re coming, come the fuck on.”

“Oh, I wouldn’t miss out on this for anything,” he says, shoving off the sofa.

Chapter Seventeen

Abby

“Ipromise I’m not a serial killer,” Luka says, chuckling as we drive toward his home. “We just live in the middle of nowhere.”

“I trust you,” I say, reaching over and patting his arm.

Not only am I really starting to trust Luka, Lawson, and Bryant, I’m also excited to spend a few days with them.

At the same time, I can safely say that if Bryant had tried to bring me to their house the first day we met, I legit would have thought he was taking me to the woods to murder me.

“Good,” he says, peeking over at me as he stretches back in his seat. “Law has spent the last two days doing everything he can to prep the house for your arrival. Bryant went over a full itinerary of things we can do to keep you from getting bored. They’d kick my ass if I scared you off.”

“Just them?” I ask, fluttering my lashes. “You wouldn’t be disappointed?”

“Oh, gorgeous. I never said that.” He winks and focuses back on the road.

My stomach flip-flops as he stretches back in his seat.

Something about the way he maneuvers the massive vehicle with so little effort is attractive.
