Over the next several hours, I help Bryant with some admin tasks. Once we’re done, he takes my picture and gives me a shiny new membership card.
With Bryant’s help about what his friend would actually eat, I called in a dinner order for me and Lawson.
Bryant drives me over to the restaurant and pulls into a parking spot.
“Thank you,” I say, unclipping my seat belt. “I had so much fun.”
He chuckles, turning to face me. “I enjoyed it too. If you ever want to pick up some extra hours at the gym, come on over. As you saw, I have a backlog of paperwork and admin tasks that I’ll never catch up on at this rate.”
I smile as we say our goodbyes, then I head into Maxwell’s to pick up dinner.
Before leaving, I pop into Luka’s office.
His eyes sparkle when he spots me. “I didn’t think you were working today. At least, not here. Don’t tell me Bryant is stealing you away from me already.”
“No, not at all.” I laugh, setting the bags of food on the edge of his desk. “I just wanted to stop by to thank you for the winter gear.” I shake the scarf that’s wrapped around my neck. “As you can see, I’m already putting it to good use. The gloves are in my purse too.”
“I’m glad,” he says, leaning back in his chair. “Did you grab dinner?” His arms stretch above his head, and his long-sleeve T-shirt pulls up, showing several inches of his lower stomach.
Damn.
Luka’s abdomen is covered in tattoos.
He’s nowhere close to as thick as his brother, but he has a strong medium build. He reminds me a little of a swimmer or a soccer player with the wide shoulders and slender waist.
His shirt falls into place, and my eyes fly to his.
The smile that tips his lips says he knows I was checking him out.
Oh, well.
The goal is to let them know I’m interested without having to outright be the aggressor.
I’m the omega in this relationship, dammit.
We don’t chase.
Alphas are supposed to do the hunting part.
“I grabbed dinner for Lawson as a thank you for helping out with Echo,” I say, smiling. “I didn’t want to wait to thank you for the gifts. They’re lovely, and I promise I’ll get tons of use out of them.”
“You’re very welcome. Maybe I’ll spring for a coat next time and see if it gets me dinner.” He winks, and my silly heart races.
Yep.
I’m majorly out of my depth with these men.
Chapter Sixteen
Lawson
Abby notices the brand-new third lock on her way in the door, and it’s the first thing she asks about.
“Ehh, this one is only accessible from inside,” I say, shrugging. “Meaning no one can pick the lock. If you lock it, you’ll need to be the one to unlock it. Unless the fire department were to bust the door down or something, but you get the idea.”
“That is strangely comforting,” she says, grinning. “Now, are you hungry? I sprang for dinner as a thank you for all the time you’ve put in with Echo.”
