She’s rumpled and sleepy-looking and tiny compared to my brother. God, she’s cute with the wide-eyed shock covering her face.
Seeing that she’s comfortable being up close and personal with Law is an excellent sign.
“Hey.” I smirk, waving. “I’m Luka.”
“That’s my pain-in-the-ass little brother,” Law chimes in.
“Bryant is downstairs keeping Shadow busy, but that dog is high-strung on a good day, and he’s pissed,” I warn him, shoving my hands into the pockets of my jeans. “Sorry. We were worried. You could have answered your texts and saved us a trip.”
I shrug unapologetically.
Truthfully?
I wanted to get a look at the woman and gauge whether we could convince her to stick around.
We almost never run into omegas around here.
When Bryant told me he stumbled upon one sleeping in her car in his parking lot, I straight-up told him his nose was malfunctioning.
That kind of thing just doesn’t happen.
Alphas outnumber omegas something like seven or eight to one nowadays.
Families with omega children often hire full-time security or keep a close eye on them personally if they can’t afford to hire out the job.
Once an omega is claimed by a pack, their alphas are responsible for keeping them safe.
After catching a whiff of her scent, I can confirm she’s an omega, and an unbonded one at that.
Now all I can wonder is if she’s in trouble.
“I’ll step out and give you two a minute to get moving around,” I say, smiling as I back toward the door. “Just a reminder, Bryant is out there walking Shadow…”
I’m sure my brother gets my meaning.
Shadow can handle the cold much better than Bryant can. Lawson should also be the one in charge of Shadow when the dogs are introduced.
He’s probably not pleased that he has to peel himself away from the little omega, but he doesn’t get to keep Abby all to himself. The two of us want a chance to get to know her as well, and my main goal is to convince her to stick around a while. If we can pull it off, it’ll benefit all three of us.

Lawson heads to the parking lot to greet Shadow.
I’m supposed to escort Abby and Echo down once the woman finishes getting dressed.
While I’m waiting, I get a text from Bryant that he’s going to run out to grab breakfast.
I send him my order, and the door to the bedroom pops open.
As Echo bolts out, I shove my phone into my back pocket.
“Well, hello,” I say, keeping my voice light and friendly. “I’d love it if you didn’t bite me.”
Abby follows the dog out.
I have to hold my tongue to keep from adding a disclaimer that my previous statement doesn’t apply to her. If she wants to bite me, I’m down to get freaky. It might make me ache to bite her back, though.
I should probably focus on whether the giant beast is about to fuck me up.
