“No?”

“No.” Her fingers curl into my shirt. “I don’t want to wait anymore. I’ve spent the last few days thinking about what I want to do with you, and now that I finally have you to myself again, there’s no way I want slow tonight.”

Well, fuck.

I pull back just enough to look at her. “You’ve been thinking about what you want to do with me?”

Her cheeks turn pink, but she doesn’t look away. “Yes.”

Hell yeah.

I slide my hand around her waist and pull her against me again. “I promise you, babe, we’re not taking it slow tonight.”

“Well, good.”

I kiss her again, and she meets me with enough enthusiasm that for a second, I seriously consider abandoning every other plan I had for tonight.

But I force myself to pull back. “But first…”

She makes a small sound of protest when I take her hand and bring her knuckles to my mouth.

“I’ve gotta feed you. You need to keep your strength up.”

“For…?”

“For later.”

Her laugh dies and that little flash in her eyes that tells me she knows exactly what I mean.

I lean closer. “Might be a long night.”

Her gaze drops to my mouth before coming back to my eyes. “Then maybe we should eat fast.”

Jesus.

She gives me one quick kiss and slips out of my arms. “Now feed me.”

I watch her walk toward the kitchen.

“It smells delicious.” She picks up the wineglasses and carries them to the table while I head for the oven.

“Baked ziti from that diner a couple streets over.” I pull it out and set it on the stove. “But I made the garlic bread myself.”

I bring everything over, and by the time I sit down across from her, she’s already poured the wine. Her gaze moves over the table, lingering on the candles before coming back to me.

“You lit candles.”

“I figured if I was getting rid of my dog for the night, I should commit to the whole thing.”

Her smile softens. “I like it.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. It’s really nice, Wyatt.”

Something about the way she says it makes me stupidly pleased with myself. “Good.”

She takes a bite of the ziti and closes her eyes for a second. “Okay, this is really good.”
