“It’s definitely a no.”
Fionn shrugs. “I was only offering.”
“Look, you know me.” I continue to rough dry my hair. “I like to do things myself.”
“Hm.”
He closes the drawer, sets the hairdryer on the counter, and wanders into the bedroom while I plug the hairdryer in myself.
Once I’ve finished drying my hair, dressed in yesterday's clothes, and joined him in the kitchen, he’s pulled on the same shirt and dress pants he’d been wearing earlier. His phone is in one hand, his thumb tapping across the screen.
“What are ya doing now?” I ask.
“Ordering coffee.” He looks up. “I take it you want one?”
“I always want one.”
He sets the phone on the kitchen island before walking over to me. For a second, he just stares at me.
“What?”
“You’ve got your hair caught.”
His fingers disappear into the ends, freeing a strand trapped beneath the collar of my jacket before smoothing it over my shoulder.
“There.”
My stomach flips. “Nice Fionn is very attractive."
As he smiles, I wander over to the screen built into the wall and tap it, curious what it’s for.
Music comes out of speakers I can’t see, drifting into the apartment.
Fionn looks over from the kitchen. “That’s a good choice.”
I glance over my shoulder. “I just tapped the screen. Is it your Spotify account?
“It is.”
I blink.
“You listen to I Prevail?”
“I do.”
“‘Hurricane’ is one of my favorites,” I tell him.
He nods. “It’s one of mine too.”
I walk over, holding out my hand. “Gimme your phone.”
He passes it over without question, and I scroll through his most recent playlist.
“Bad Omens.”
“Sleep Token.”
“Motionless In White.”
