Kingston and Damon sit on the edge of the bed talking in hushed whispers. They each have damp hair, telling me they grabbed a quick shower while we were cleaning our girl up.
They both look up when they hear me tugging a pair of sweatpants on.
“How is she?” Damon asks, concern lacing his tone.
“She’s good. A little sore, but that’s to be expected.”
He nods, glancing behind me to the open doorway before settling back on me. “We need to have a family meeting in the morning.”
I raise a brow. “A family meeting as in all five of us?”
“I’m in this, Ronan. I lived most of my life depriving myself of the only thing I ever wanted, and I have no intention of ever being without Chloe again.” He glances between us and sighs. “Plus, it seems I don’t hate being stuck with all of you.”
Kingston snickers. “Such high praise coming from you.”
I chuckle and move further into the room. As badly as I want to hold Chloe tonight, it’s my turn to take the floor. Only one of us has had to rotate because my brother has been happy to take the floor, but I have a feeling after tonight, he needs to hold her. “What is this family meeting regarding?”
“The future. I want to know what comes after we deal with the threats. And I want to make sure Chloe knows we’re not going anywhere…even if we do occasionally want to kill each other.”
Before we get the chance to respond, Ryker carries a sleeping Chloe into the room, her head resting on his wide chest.
The sheets are already pulled back, allowing him to slip her between them easily. He lifts the blankets up to her neck, his brows pulled together as he makes sure she’s warm enough.
“We should have had her drink some more water,” he says.
“She had a whole bottle, Ry. She’s okay,” Kingston assures him.
“I filled up her emotional support water bottle as well so she can have some if she wakes up throughout the night,” Damon adds.
I can’t help but laugh at the description. Chloe said it a few times in the hospital, and it’s caught on with the rest of us since.
“Let’s get some sleep. Corbin messaged earlier. It looks like we’ve finally had some movement,” Kingston tells us.
I cross to the bed and drop a kiss to Chloe’s forehead, reveling in the feel of her.
Tonight we got a glimpse of the rest of our lives, and I for one can’t fucking wait to start living it.
CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE
CHLOE
NOW
Darkness surrounds me as my body pulls me from sleep, but it takes me a few minutes to recognize what woke me up.
Ice-blue eyes stare down at me as his fingers drag down my bare side. It’s not the first time I’ve woken up to Damon staring at me, but it is the first time he’s been on the bed beside me when it happens.
“You should be sleeping,” I murmur, not wanting to wake the others up.
“I like watching you sleep,” he admits.
“I’m starting to think you and Ryker don’t get along because you’re too similar.” I roll my eyes, but I can’t hide the smile from my voice.
So what if I love that they like to watch me sleep? It’s hardly the most out-of-the-ordinary part of this entire situation.
He smirks but doesn’t deny it, instead gliding his fingers over my peaked nipple.
I bite down on my bottom lip to catch the hiss of pleasure his touch evokes, my hips shifting restlessly.
