“Our perfect girl,” Damon adds, running his hands up my trembling thighs.
“I’m so proud of you, Chloe.” Ronan rounds the chair and comes to stand on my other side. “You’re taking everything we’re giving you so well.”
Their praise warms my chest and makes me cry harder. Emotion purges itself from my body, the fear and grief I’ve been holding on to for so long, the regret and guilt I haven’t allowed myself to deal with.
It comes pouring out as my guys surround me, their hands moving over my body as they offer soft words of encouragement I didn’t know I needed.
How do they always know exactly what I need?
CHAPTER FORTY
CHLOE
NOW
I’m on fire.
My skin. My chest. My mind.
I’m burning up from the inside, and I’m afraid I’m going to explode.
“We can stop if you need,” Kingston offers, his voice calm and even among the storm raging inside me.
I shake my head, but I can’t find the words that beg to be spoken.
“We won’t be upset if this is too much too soon, Sparrow,” Ronan says from beside me. “We don’t want to do this if you’re not comfortable.”
Pressing my eyes closed, I force my body to calm down. Or at least I try. There’s a riot of emotions I can barely place, let alone control, but I can’t let them think I’m not the happiest I can ever remember being.
“I don’t want to stop,” I whisper, not trusting my voice to not waver. “This is just all I’ve ever wanted, and I’m scared the rug is about to be pulled out from under me. I’m scared I’ll wake up and this will all be a dream.”
Ryker’s golden eyes soften, and he brushes his rough fingers down my cheek. “This is happening, Siren. We’re here and we’re yours. I promise the rug is firmly nailed to the ground and it’s not going anywhere, and neither are we.”
“But…” I glance to Damon, who’s still kneeling between my legs. This conversation would make me feel vulnerable no matter how we had it, but being naked between them isn’t helping matters.
He pushes up so we’re at eye level, pinching my chin between his fingers. “I’m not going anywhere, Chloe. I lived most of my life depriving myself of the only thing I ever wanted, and then you almost died in my arms.” He sucks in a breath as pain lances across his face. “Maybe before, I could have kept myself away, I could have convinced myself that you were better off without me, but not anymore. I don’t know how I’m supposed to let you out of my sight, let alone out of my life. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere. Not ever.”
He swipes the tears from my cheeks, and I can’t help but lean into his hand.
“I know I’ve fucked up so much with you, but I’m going to put in the work. I’m going to spend the rest of my life proving myself to you, and them, that you are my whole world. Fuck the Lombardi name. Fuck the throne. Fuck all of it. Because a life without you is not a life I want to live. None of it matters if I don’t have you.”
“Now I’m sure I’m dreaming.” I half laugh, but there’s little humor in the sound.
He glances up at Kingston for a beat and then I’m in his arms, straddling his legs, his cock so close to where I need him I can’t help but grind against him.
Damon’s moan is almost enough to send me over the edge. The deep melody of pleasure is so fucking hot I should have known it would come from him. “Jesus, Duchess.”
He wraps his arms around me so tight it borders on pain, but I like it. I need it.
“I’m not going anywhere, Chlo. Will you let me prove it to you?”
I don’t answer in words. Instead, I lift my hips and guide his hard cock to my entrance. Just like the rest of my guys, he’s huge, and I silently thank the others for preparing me to take him for the first time.
Sinking down onto his hardness, we let out a mutual groan as tears gather in my eyes again.
Tears of relief.
Tears of pleasure.
