I hated that my child knew that sound. That in such a small amount of time, he already knew murder and violence.

He should have only known fairy tales and my voice singing him to sleep.

MacGregor hadn’t put down that gun.

Something inside me whispered I needed him to. That I needed to do my part in all of this. That I had to get him to put that gun down so I could pick it up.

James would have to hear another gunshot, but I prayed it would be his last.

If I could kill MacGregor, it would leave his men rudderless. It would give Luca, Dax, Lynx, and whoever they’d brought with them a fighting chance.

“Take your clothes off, Nyah. Slow. Like ye would for them.”

My skin crawled. Disgust and hate for this man engulfed every inch of me.

Sweat beaded across his forehead.

I stalled, not knowing what else to do. “Let me open the balcony door for you first. Let the breeze in. You seem hot.” I moved before he could say not to, turning my back on him and crossing the room to the balcony door and flinging it wide open. There was indeed a breeze coming from outside, and it cooled my heated skin, even if I didn’t care what it did to MacGregor. I stared out into the darkness, seeing nothing that looked like a rescue party but praying they were out there somewhere, watching me.

If they knew where I was in the house, that would be a start.

MacGregor moved in behind me, too close, his big body crowding me in from behind. He rubbed himself against me while I battled not to scream.

I twisted in his arms, trying to put some distance between us but really only succeeding in drawing him the whole way out onto the balcony with me.

He undid his pants, letting them pool at his feet, no care given over who could see us up here. His dick flopped from his underwear, and he took it in his hand, stroking himself until he was hard.

James stirred inside, and I moved to pass MacGregor to get to him, but he wouldn’t let me, his big body blocking the doorway. “No, lass. Ye leave the bairn. You’re busy. Get on your knees and show your man how you suck his dick.”

I would have preferred to chop my own tongue off.

“Put the gun down first,” I said quietly. “Please.”

I could practically hear Luca’s instructions in my head. Telling me I needed to get MacGregor away from his weapon.

I was so damn scared they were going to see what MacGregor was doing with his dick in his hand. I was terrified they were going to lose their cool over the thought of him raping me. Whatever plan they had would go to shit, and they’d burst in here, ready to save me, only to get shot.

I needed that fucking gun.

I needed to kill MacGregor before any of them could be hurt.

MacGregor cocked his head to one side. “Ye don’t like my gun, lass? Would fit real nice up in your pussy. I’d like that, watching ye ride it. Watching the barrel disappear into that sweet cunt I’ve been dreaming about for months.”

“It scares me,” I told him, trying to make myself seem as small and weak and as innocent as I could.

He looked at it. “It’s not that big. Ye could take it.”

I fought the rising frustration that he wasn’t complying in the way I wanted him to. I held out my hand toward it. “Then let me have it. You want to watch me ride your gun, give it to me and let me show you how good I can be.”

He groaned and stroked himself hard. “Nae, lass. I want to be the one to do it. The gun stays in my hand. Always. Even when I’m fucking.”

I ground my molars together.

From the corner of my eye, I saw movement. Three dark shadows darting across the lawn behind MacGregor’s back, and panic lit up inside me.

Because I knew where they would be headed.

For the back door. The one that led to the basement cages where they would no doubt find Viktor’s and Bruno’s bodies. From there it would be a quick jog up the stairs before they’d burst into the room.
