He bats his eyelashes at me. “Don’t worry, it’s only one little ghost, and he probably won’t bother us.”
I cross my arms over my chest. “There’s no way I’m having sex with you if there’s a ghost hanging about.”
Beau gives me a determined look. “Then that’s just more motivation to help poor Alistair move on. I was already planning on getting the job done, but you’ve given me an added incentive to speed things along. And I’m sure your assistance will be helpful.” He gives me pleading, puppy dog eyes. “Stay with me tonight, pretty please with sugar on top.”
Well, damn.
How the hell can I say no to this man?
“Fine,” I grumble, “but no sex.”
Beau’s eyes sparkle. “Deal!”
CHAPTER
SEVENTEEN
Good day to all my devoted listeners! Recently I’ve received some emails on the same topic so I thought I’d talk about it today to answer most of you. Some folks are wondering about whether or not it’s worthwhile to attend a convention devoted to the paranormal and supernatural. That’s a great question! The answer, though, probably varies from person to person.
One that I’ve wanted to attend but haven’t had the chance to yet is New Orleans ParaCon. Now, it covers a wide range of topics related to the supernatural, but also stuff like cryptids, UFOs, and anything unexplained. I can’t rightly say much about those latter topics. My gift doesn’t give me insights into anything beyond the supernatural. But that convention sure does look like a whole load of fun. You get to attend panels and presentations and also go on some local ghost tours. In New Orleans, that’s bound to be fascinatin’.
I can’t vouch for all of their speakers, mind you, but I’m sure there’s some worthwhile stuff covered. If you have the money and you’re keen to interact with other enthusiasts in a convention setting, you’ll probably find it worth your while.
For folks in the Alabama area, we have the Deep South Para-Comi-Con every year. It’s kind of a mashup of a paranormal convention meets Dragon Con. There’re cosplay events, vendors, and performers but also panels, workshops, and presentations.
Do you know of any other conventions you’d like to recommend? Be sure to send them my way and I’ll share them in the show notes.

Beau
The rain is coming down heavy by the time we make it back, and I stumble on the first step leading up to the entrance of the B&B. Callum, like a true gentleman, catches me before I fall.
“Thank you kindly, sir,” I say with a weak smile.
He frowns, water dripping down the side of his face. “Steady on, Beau. Christ, you’re dead on your feet.”
That makes me laugh. “Are you starting to make jokes about death now?”
He growls in irritation. “Oh, haud yer wheesht, ya numpty.”
When Callum gets annoyed or discombobulated, his Scottish burr gets a lot thicker than how he usually talks. How wonderfully adorable!
“I have no idea what you’re saying right now, but it sure sounds sexy.”
He narrows his eyes and swoops in to kiss me into stunned silence. Before I can react, he picks me up in a princess carry that makes my heart swoon.
But that’s followed by worry.
“What about your back, darlin’?”
“My damn back’s fine. I’m carrying you inside and I won’t hear any complaints,” he says in that stern way of his that makes me all warm and tingly inside.
“None from me, darling. You can carry me anywhere anytime you want. Just don’t hurt yourself.”
We’re both soaking wet from the rain when we get into the entryway.
In our eagerness to interview our ghostly crew again, we forgot to bring umbrellas, and the rain that had been looming all day finally caught up with us on our way back to my place. My poor shirt and bow tie are drenched. I can only hope they dry well or I’ll need to ask Doreen to make me a new bow tie.
