That might be another thing I’m learning.
Not everything I love has to receive all of me at once.
EPILOGUE
MERRYWEATHER
One year later
“Hi,” I whisper as I type, in case the universe is listening.
Then I smile and shake my head.
Some habits are apparently harder to break than curses.
Across the room, Flora is sitting cross-legged on the couch with Aurora curled against her thigh, completely unaware that I have been staring at the same Whisp message box for the past ten minutes.
Well.
Probably unaware.
Flora has gotten disturbingly good at knowing when I’m up to something.
I glance at her, and she’s already looking at me. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing,” I say way too quickly.
“You’ve been very quiet.”
“I can be quiet.”
Flora looks at me for several seconds. “No.”
I turn my attention back to my phone before my face gives me away. The Third Fairy’s shop looks almost exactly the same as it did the first time I found it, although there are more reviews now.
One of them is excellent, even though it’s borderline inappropriate. It is also one of her most-liked reviews, so history will vindicate me.
At the top of the page is the button I’ve been waiting a year to press again.

My heart starts beating faster, which is an insane response to what’s about to happen because I have a pretty good idea of what she’s going to say.
Probably.
I mean, we’ve discussed marriage.
Not discussed in the sense of Hello, baby, if I produced a ring on a random Saturday afternoon, what would your answer be?
That would have ruined this.
But we’ve talked about the future. We’ve talked about money and work and families, and what we want the next few years to look like. We’ve talked about whether we should eventually move somewhere with a yard and a little more space, and maybe getting another cat to keep Aurora company.
We’ve talked about someday.
I just haven’t really told her that someday is today.
I look down at the screen, then I type.
