His lips grazed mine. “I know I could,” he vowed.

For a long moment, I sat with that. Finally, I smiled. “Arrogant,” I whispered.

“Accurate,” he countered, falling into our old pattern. “I’m also stealing another turn, like you.”

I could have objected, but I didn’t want to. “Go ahead.”

“Truth or Dare.”

“Dare,” I said, the feel of my wet body rubbing against his making me reckless.

His gaze dropped to my mouth. “Kiss me like you ain’t scared of what happens when we get home.”

My heartbeat sped up. What would a kiss like that even feel like? Did I even know, with lingering doubts in the back of my head? But there were some things I did know.

I wasn’t in this pool because Adam cheated or sleeping with Saadiq because I was hurt.

I wanted him because I wanted him.

So, I wrapped both arms around his neck and kissed him with everything in me. His arms tightened around me. I pressed closer, loving the way the water made our bodies almost weightless and the way he held me as though my weight didn’t matter anyway. His beard brushed my skin when his mouth trailed to my jaw, then my neck. I shivered.

“Saadiq…”

“Hmm?”

“That beard.”

His lips curved against me. “What about it?”

“You know what.”

“Yeah, but I wanna hear you say it.”

“You ain’t hearing nothing, nigga.”

He laughed. “Still mean.”

“And you still like it.”

“Love that shit.”

Love… I didn’t let myself think about that word. Maybe it was too much… even if it wasn’t too soon. He kissed me again, and I didn’t care. He kept our lips together but angled our lower bodies apart. A moment later, I felt him began to slide inside me. I sighed at the deliciousness of the intrusion. Somehow, the water helped ease his way. I moaned as he began to bounce me against him.

His mouth brushed mine.

“Truth or dare?”

I groaned. “Again?”

“Apple,” he reprimanded, thrusting sharply.

“Truth,” I whined.

“What you want from me, Topaz?”

“Saadiq, really? Right now?”

“Having you wide open literally might make you wide open figuratively,” he said.
