OLIVIA

“To the Langham please,” I tell the driver as I get in the car, Harlan holding the door open for me like a gentleman. I’m not taking Harlan to my home just yet. But neither of us are done, and public bathroom sex scandal will not go over well with my agent, publisher, or publicist. Even my friends might be horrified. Dion would kill me if I ruined that event but the only part I’d feel guilty about is if puppies ended up homeless because of me. The rest I won’t feel bad about. However, we needed to get out of there. We broke a bathroom door and may have garnered too much attention with our exit. I had to borrow Harlan’s jacket because he tore a part of my outfit, and without the coverage, I’m sure I would have shown everyone in attendance a part of my ass or something. We will ‘to be continued’ this at the hotel where we started it, but in a room where we have more space. Harlan gets in beside me, and puts his hand on my thigh while I call the hotel. His hands on me makes it hard to think straight or talk in full sentences.

“Hello, It’s Olivia.” The night manager already recognizes my voice. “I’d like to check in in twenty minutes please.”

“Your usual suite is booked, but I can help you with the one opposite. I know it’s not the view you like to write to.” I won’t be needing my coveted city view tonight.

“I won’t be writing, or staying long. I’m checking in with an, umm, extra guest.”

“Oh.” He sounds a bit shocked but covers up fast. “We’ll be ready for you and your guest, Miss Olivia. We look forward to welcoming you back.”

“Thank you.”

“Can we have anything sent to the room for you?” he asks. I smile and look at Harlan beside me. “Dessert. All of them please.” Harlan licks his bottom lip and it makes me want to bite it.

“With pleasure,” he answers and I hang up, turning my attention to the very handsome man beside me. And wonder exactly how I ended up here? Who is this person? I don’t know her. He brings out a part of me I don’t recognize at all.

“Olivia,” Harlan says. “You are staring at me.”

“You’re not hard to look at, I can’t help it.” I shrug and he smiles. It makes my ladyparts clench. The quickie, or longie or whatever the fuck we did in the restroom at the event wasn’t enough. I need more, not to write a book about but more for me. I fucking want Harlan Waters.

My driver stops in front of the hotel, and I’m quick to check in. Harlan rests his hand on my lower back and wraps his arm around my waist as soon as we step into the elevator. if it weren’t for the old couple in the elevator with us, I’d maul Harlan, and get started now, but we’re stuck with them until we reach the top floor. I realize it’s the older couple who have booked my usual suite, but the one opposite to theirs is just as big. It just has a different view. The door is barely closed when Harlan is on me, and again, it’s a frenzy to get rid of our clothing. We’re only interrupted when the porter delivers our dessert. After that we’re naked in a rush, and rather than reach for the desserts immediately, Harlan picks me up, and takes me straight to the bed. Our mouths stay locked as he lays me down and touches me everywhere. He sets a different pace for us, still hungry but reverent, intentional. Dessert is our thing, I know, but I’m consumed by him, the feel of his hard body moving over mine. He manages to find the pins in my hair, and when it’s all loose, he stops.

“Stunning,” he whispers against my mouth. “Everything I’ve dreamed of, and more.”

My heart responds to that, and my emotions are surely splattered all over my face. I’ve wanted this, him, but I’ve been too afraid to allow myself to have it. Afraid to let someone into my space only to have them leave when it’s not what they expected. But maybe —

“Stop thinking, Liv.” Harlan kisses me deeply, his hand arching my neck. I wiggle, impatient to have him inside me again. But Harlan isn’t in any kind of rush, not anymore. I trace the muscles of his back with lazy fingers and slide my foot down his calf. He’s hard, the head of his dick between us. Lifting his torso, he reaches for it, and pulls back, asking with his eyes if I’m ready. How we communicate without words so easily frightens me, but my heart is begging me to trust this man. And I do. I nod, and tilt my head, watching how he plays with me, using my body to wet his cock. As if he knows I’m enthralled by what he’s doing, he holds himself up on his arms, and slowly thrusts his hips, allowing me to watch him bury himself inside me my body. But when he gets about halfway, my legs fall open, and my back arches. I haven’t forgotten how big he is, or how long, but this moment, the feel of him, is different. I open my eyes, and find Harlan watching me, not saying a word. He thrusts again, and my mouth drops open, my hands fisting the pillow beneath my head. God, it feels…

It feels. How strange to think if this thing between Harlan and I as something that feels, but it’s accurate, and for once I’m not terrified.

“Liv?” I don’t think I’ll ever tire of hearing him call me that, or how he says it with patience.

“I’m okay,” I breath. “It’s just —”

“Different,” he whispers. “I know.” He drops his head, and kisses me just as he thrusts, filling me completely. There’s a twinge of discomfort, and I think Harlan knows, but he kisses me through it, and the lowers himself on top of me. Hiking my legs up, he moves slowly at first, taking his time with me. His hands are everywhere, as are mine, but when his patience has run out, we’re covered in sweat, and clawing at each other while he makes love to me the way wild animals do. And I call it making love because he’s still gentle, and careful, but he also pushes my limits, and takes as much of my pleasure as he gives of his own.

“Harlan.” I’m out of breath, teased into submission, and ready to come. I know it’s going to shatter me, and that’s what I need. To shatter, and then have Harlan put me back together again. “I can’t…”

Intertwining his fingers with mine on one side, and gripping my hip with the other, he whispers, “I’ve got you, baby,” over my lips, and goes from hard and fast to slow and deep. The sensation makes my eyes warm, and watery, because he’s reaching inside of me in every way, and it’s overwhelming. He swallows my words and rotates his hips, then he’s dipping out, and going back in, deeper every time. He kisses the tears that fall, and with the arch of his body over mine, sends me over the edge of oblivion. I want to scream, but the sound is trapped inside of my quivering body. I whimper while he kisses me and allow my body to come apart at the seams when he finds his own oblivion, his body shaking. It’s the perfect bubble, just me and Harlan and what we’re saying with our bodies. This isn’t like the first time, simply because it doesn’t feel like a one-night stand.

I’m not sure I’ve ever believed in soulmates, or the idea that there’s one person out there made just for me. But with Harlan, I really want to. We kiss for what feels like hours, and when I tell him — with a furious blush on my face — that I need a bath because I’m a little sore, he gives me crooked smile, and says, “Okay.”

That’s when he feeds me some dessert. Which isn’t nearly as fun as it sounds because all he does is smear the confections on my body while we’re in the bath, and then licks it up. We end up having sex in the bath, too, and end up cleaning off in the shower. He washes my body, and my hair, and does nothing more than kiss me. But my heart is reaching for him from within my ribcage, and it’s on my tongue to say those three little words, but I hold back. I need him to say it first and prove to me it’s what he feels too.
