“Don’t remind me,” I whined. “It wasn’t my finest moment, okay?”

“Oh you were damn fine,” — my body lit from the inside under his appraisal — “I, on the other hand, deserve a do-over, considering you know, you saw my junk before you got my name.”

I gasped. “I didn’t see anything!” Total lie. The man looked like he had a while lot going on down below. “I swear.”

Alex smirked. “Regardless, I still think I deserve a do-over.”

I swallowed, and felt my tummy dip with nerves. I wanted to see him again.

“You want to see me again?”

“Why does that surprise you? I had fun last night, didn’t you?”

“I did. I’m just…” I searched for an excuse as to why I was hesitant, but came up empty, despite the slight niggle I felt in my gut. Something was preventing me from saying yes.

“It doesn’t even have to be a date,” added Alex. “We can just hang out, do stuff….” It was his turn to hesitate. “Unless you’re already seeing someone…” He frowned.

I shook my head, feeling that little something in my chest. “No, I’m not seeing anyone.” Why did that feel wrong to say? “It’s just me.”

“Then you have to say yes, you know, to make up for how we met.”

“You’re never going to let that go, are you?”

“Not until you give in, and ‘hang out’ with me.”

I thought about it, biting around my lip over and over again. To his credit, Alex didn’t push me, and I think that was what made my decision a little easier. I had no reason to say no.

“Okay.” I smiled. “But no clubs.”

He gave me a rueful shake of his head. “No clubs, I promise. I have the perfect place in mind.”
