“Maybe.”

“Aight then, I guess you can’t get what the fuck I have for you.”

“Quit playing with me, Law. You know I got an attitude because you were probably out being sneaky or some shit.”

“Are you going to continue to bring that shit up or can we get past that. Goddamn, I’m sick of hearing it. A nigga be all about you and you still nagging and shit.”

“Nagging? Nigga, it’s been a couple of weeks, and you wanted a doggy treat or some shit for doing right? Let’s tell the truth here. If you would’ve caught me telling a nigga how to eat my pussy, what would you be doing right now?”

“Sitting in jail. Both of y’all muthafuckas would be on ice right goddamn now.”

“That’s what the fucking I’m saying, so you want me to chill and be your pregnant little girlfriend and act like the shit didn’t happen. The city ain’t that big so what am I supposed to do when I run into dick mouth Pinkie?”

“Nothing! You do and say nothing because she ain’t gon’ say shit to you.”

“How do you know that?”

“Because I fucking know, okay. Can we stop talking about her? Shit, you know how to fuck up my damn mood.”

Summer’s sniffle caught my attention. She was stirring whatever was in the pot, but her ass was crying and I could tell by the way her voice cracked.

“I’ll have your plate ready in a minute.”

Her hair was wild, she had changed out of the clothes she had on earlier and slipped into one of my t-shirts, and she had on a pair of fuzzy socks. This is how I knew we were comfortable with each other. Pinkie was always dressed up and looking good. But when you’re the side bitch, you can’t get away with things that your main girl do. The side bitch had to always go the extra mile.

“Baby, please stop crying. Look, just turn the food off and come and sit down.” I turned the food off and pulled her into the den. “I don’t mean to hurt your feelings. How are we going to get past the shit if we keep bringing it up?”

“I don’t think you understand what you did to me. The shit is still on my phone.”

“Give me your phone.”

She got up to get her phone and handed it to me. I broke it in half, and mine too.

“Tomorrow we’ll go get two new phones with new numbers. Will that be a fresh start?”

“It’s a start.”

“You still got an attitude or you gon’ let me eat you out?”

“You do this shit every time we argue, but I’m not falling for it tonight. You argue and then want to fuck the shit out of me until I have a memory lapse. I’ll pass.”

“I heard you say something earlier about a pregnant girlfriend. I’m thinking more like a wife.”

I pulled the box out of my pocket and opened it. Summer was sitting on my lap, so I couldn’t drop down to one knee and besides I had on an all-white pair of Gucci jeans.

“You want me to be your wife? You do know that makes me crazier?”

“It makes us both crazy. What you say?”

“You not going to get on your knee?”

“Dammit man, move!” I got on my knee so fast before she changed her mine. “Summer, will you marry me.”

“Ummm, I don’t know. I need to think about it, but I’ll wear the ring while I think about it.”

“No, the hell you won’t.”

“Law, you know I’ll marry you.”
