“That’s right. I enjoyed what we just did. Every single moment of it. Did you?”
“Very much so.”
“Good,” I murmur, leaning down and kissing Thane’s lips. He brings a hand to my face, keeping me in place. He tilts his head and I deepen the kiss, caressing our tongues together.
This is the first time he’s initiated something like this and a thrill goes through me. It’s heady, knowing he wants this as much as I do.
“Let’s go get cleaned up.”
“Okay. Then I should head back to my dorm. I have class in the morning.”
“Stay the night,” I say, my heartbeat suddenly picking up with nerves. How silly, that I was so confident while our dicks were out but now that I’m asking for him to stay the night, suddenly I’m nervous. “I’ll walk with you back to your dorm in the morning.”
“Are you sure?” Thane asks again.
I stand up and take his hand, helping him to his feet. “Very sure.”
“Okay. I’ll stay.”
A smile stretches across my face as I lead Thane into the bathroom so we can clean up and go to bed. Tonight is not at all what I expected, but gods, it’s perfect.
Chapter Ten
Thane
My head is still blissfully empty as I follow Maverick through his home. He’s just finished taking a quick shower while I washed my face and brushed my teeth using a spare toothbrush. Maverick keeps his hands on me as much as he can, stroking over my arms, running through my hair.
I feel so content, so warm, so sleepy in the most blissful way.
I could get used to this.
Fuck, I really hope I’m allowed to get used to this.
“Step out of your slacks,” Maverick says, helping me out of my pants. Then he pulls off my zip-up and my polo. He folds them and puts them on his dresser before guiding me to his bed. I get under the covers, sighing softly.
Maverick gets into bed on the other side, turning so we’re facing each other. “How’re you feeling?”
“Good,” I say right away. “Really, really good.”
“I’m so glad,” he whispers, running his fingers through my hair again. “I’m really happy that you’re here.”
“Me too,” I say through a yawn. He chuckles softly, guiding me until I’m turned away from him. He presses against my back, his arm thrown over my waist. I’m warm and held and safe. My head feels lighter than it’s been for a long time, probably since I was in elementary school.
My eyes grow heavy. I feel a soft kiss pressed against the back of my head before I’m drifting off to sleep.
I have no idea what time it is or what woke me up. I look around the room, trying to blink the sleep out of my eyes. I listen closely, realizing with a start that my phone is vibrating from the bedside table. Maverick must have set it there for me before I fell asleep.
Reaching over, I see Blaire written across the screen. I swap across the screen to answer it.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Thane,” I hear from the other side of the phone, my little sister’s voice coming out shaky and small.
“Hey, Blaire. What’s going on? Are you alright?”
“Yeah, yeah. Don’t worry, Thane. I’m safe.”
“Okay,” I breathe out, the knot that was about to tighten in my chest unraveling just as quickly as it came on. “What’s up?”
