“Are you sure?”

Blush tilts his head, slinking towards me. “Don’t you want me to leave?”

“Honestly? I’m not sure. I’ve never had anyone stay over but I don’t hate the idea. We could get some dinner too.”

He walks over to me and drags his fingers under my chin. “You’re a surprise.”

“Am I?”

He climbs onto my lap, draping his arms around my neck. My dick immediately swells against his naked ass, and when I look down, his is perking up too.

“I don’t do sleepovers,” he says. “But if I did, it would be with you.”

I nod, gazing up into his eyes. “Thanks for today. It was fun.”

“It was. You know where to find me if you want more.”

“I do.” I lean in and kiss him. “Want more.”

“Mmm, that can be arranged.”

He starts to scoot off, but I hold him in place. “You should’ve warned me you were addictive.”

“Where’s the fun in that?”

I let him go, watching as he gets dressed again, then I walk him downstairs through the silent house. At the door, I kiss him again before opening the door.

“Text me when you get home.”

He smiles. “Okay, Whisper.”

I watch him walk to his car, slip inside, then drive away through the gates. This wasn’t supposed to be anything between us, but damn, I just considered letting him stay over. Who even am I?

The one thing I won’t do is fall for someone. Never again. Clearly, Blush doesn’t want that either. It’s casual for him and it needs to stay that way for me.

We’re just having fun, and I deserve some of that. It’s been seventeen years since I gave my heart to someone only for it to be shattered. I’ve barely scraped all the pieces back together. I’m not about to hand it to Blush when he doesn’t even want it.

So why am I even thinking about this?

CHAPTER 17

Blush

I shouldn’t be here.

I know it’s wrong, but I couldn’t help myself. For almost an hour I’ve been following Whisper’s van through town from Crestvale to different parts of Mistone. He never gets out of the car so I’m still not sure what he’s up to.

He’s alone this time too, and it seems like he’s just cruising, but for what? He never talks to anyone—not the homeless people, the dealers, or the sex workers—so he’s not trying to get ass or drugs. What else could he be doing?

He slows down in front of an apartment building, driving past the parking lot, then speeds up a little as he passes it. Then it hits me.

He’s looking for someone.

I follow him away from this area and across town to the west side, doing my best to keep a few cars between us so he doesn’t notice. Ten minutes later, he pulls over to the curb, shutting off the van. We’re on a street full of old houses. They look pretty run down, but once upon a time this was probably a nice neighborhood.

Finding a spot a few houses down, I pull over and park too, trying my best to stay out of Whisper’s view while still keeping an eye on him. He doesn’t do anything for nearly twenty minutes, and just as I’m about to leave, the driver side door opens and he steps out. He’s wearing a beanie that covers his head and all black clothing. I watch as he pulls gloves from his pocket and slides them onto his hands, slipping between two houses and disappearing from my view.

Is he breaking into houses? If so, why would he choose this shitty neighborhood? He lives in a damn mansion, so what could he need to steal? Unless he just has a fetish for it. Some rich people are like that.
