“I have help now. You don’t have to worry about me.”

“Then worry about yourself,” she sassed.

“I’m worried about my son. He’s living in that house with both of you.”

She sighed like he was an annoyance. That little breath nearly had me reaching across the console.

“Don’t do that,” I said.

“Do what?”

“Act like my child is an inconvenience.”

“I didn’t say anything about Keenan.”

“You were there.”

Her eyes moved toward me.

“When Roman hit him,” I continued. “You were there, and you let it happen.”

“He’s his father.”

“And I’m his mother. What the fuck does that mean?”

“Lower your voice.”

I looked out my window and shook my head. A woman was getting into the car ahead of us. She hadn’t even glanced in our direction.

I needed to get through this conversation without dragging Aria out onto the sidewalk. I wanted to beat her ass so bad.

“He can get disrespectful,” she said.

“Keenan?”

“He’s a teenager, Melody. You don’t live with him. Boys need discipline.”

She sounded just like Roman’s ass. She was completely brainwashed and this was completely pointless.

“He’s going to do what he did to my kids to yours,” I replied.

For a second, I thought I had gotten through to her. I reached across the console and touched her wrist.

“I need your help. He’s hurting both of you. You can tell me what’s happening in that house. We can get Keenan out, and you can leave, too.”

She pulled her hand away.

“No.”

“Aria.”

“I’m not leaving my husband. We’re good. And things will be even better when she gets here,” she said.

Defeated, I sank back. Her husband. There was no getting through to this dumb bitch. And she honestly deserved everything she had coming her way.

Oh well, I tried to play nice. I was going to have to take Justice’s route. And knowing him, it was going to cost her way more pain than my route. I laughed and shook my head at her.

“You are pathetic. But you’ll learn,” I giggled.
