“How? We will never be trusted again. Let’s be real. Remember when you found out that Subway’s tuna didn’t have any actual tuna in it?” I asked.

“Yeah, I ain’t been back since.”

“Exactly. It came out they do actually use tuna. It’s just been cooked to death and denatured so much that the test couldn’t pick up on it. My point is this… A lie spreads like wildfire, and the truth doesn’t matter once everything is burnt up. Our restaurant is done.”

“What do you want to do?” he asked me.

“I want revenge. I know that you’re out of that life. But you still have friends. It’s time we put the Banks family in their place. They crossed the line.”

“Aight. I know some people. We’ll get revenge because this shit is unforgivable.”

“I want revenge on him and her. But starting with her.”

Justice

Real progress was being made on my land. My brothers stood with me as we surveyed the buildings being built and the ones being renovated. This was a dream come true. Our legacy was thriving. Couldn’t say the same for other folks.

“Cold blooded, bro,” Prime clapped his palm on my shoulder.

“Killing a little girl’s horse is colder.”

“Touche.”

“Rats and roaches. Bryce was pissed. He said he about to quit and go run that health food store in Baltimore,” Quest laughed.

“I compensated him well plus gave him two weeks off. He’ll be aight,” I chuckled.

“Yeah, once he sees those zeroes, he’ll know it was worth it. Has Kira called you to cry about it?”

“She knows better than to ever say a word to me again,” I responded.

Together we walked past the Harlow Construction sign and to our respective whips. Today I ran around a lot because there were things that needed to be handled at the Banks Reserve warehouse and some work out here on our property.

But now, I was ready to head home to them. To her.

“We not about to go to war again, are we?” Quest asked, looking at me skeptically.

“What’s it to you? You live for this shit,” I laughed.

“Nah, I just wanna be at home with my baby. Right, Prime?”

Prime shook his head playfully while grinning. “I got a house full of kids and one on the way. I ain’t tryin’ to go to war again.”

Both Quest and I looked at him surprised. “What!?” We exclaimed.

“Yeah, your lil brother got another coming. She’s out of the first trimester. We were waiting to tell anyone but I’m hella excited.”

“You got four kids now. I’m proud of you.” I dapped up my baby brother.

“I’m locked in. So I don’t wanna go to war. But if I must, fuck it. Whatever it takes to protect the family.”

“Kira ain’t linked like that. She’s just a crazy broad who overstepped her boundaries. It’s my fault for ever taking it there with her. But she just jealous of Skye. And she took it out on the horse.”

“What’s goin’ on with you and Skye anyway?” Quest asked.

“I told her I wanna come out and make it official. Get a new caregiver for Rita so she’s no longer my employee.”
