Because it’s showing me something I’ve been waiting on for a while now. Constance cares about me, or at the very least, she’s getting territorial about me.
I love it.
But making her jealous was never the idea.
“But if what happened in class wasn’t consensual, I can hardly punish you for it. Hell, Eliza should be the one being punished,” she pauses, as if something just reached her mind. “I need to send another email.”
“Don’t.”
“Why?” she asks, slightly shocked that I’m asking her not to right her wrong.
“I like my Saturday mornings with you, and since you refuse to let me take you on a date, detention will have to do,” I say with a shrug.
I’m not even lying. I’ll take any time I can with her.
Constance opens her mouth, then closes it, and then again opens it, but still no word passes her lips.
I think I just broke my lovely teacher.
She comes back to herself when the bell finally rings to signify the end of the class, and I hear people gathering at the door.
I guess that’s my cue to leave.
“Louis—” Constance starts to say, and I have a feeling she wants to say something about my punishment.
“Let it go, Constance. I’m happy to see you on Saturday morning. Don’t send another email,” I tell her before picking up my bag and leaving the classroom.
On my way to the apartment that I’m renting in the city, only one thing is looping in my mind.
Constance is jealous.

Constance
I’m losing my mind.
Louis was given another four Saturday detentions.
I was expecting it. Knowing him, that asshole dean wasn’t going to give him less than the first time in any case.
So I’m not surprised.
I’m still not over the fact that Louis refused to let me change things so he didn’t get punished, though.
Fuck. He wanted the detention.
And that’s what is making me lose my mind.
I attributed the fact that he ended up in detention to his big mouth and lack of propriety the first time, but now I’m not so sure of it anymore.
I’m more and more convinced that he did it on purpose the first time too.
The lengths he would go to in the name of spending time with me should appall me.
It doesn’t. I found myself thinking it was endearing about twenty minutes ago, and now I’m spiraling.
This is what is truly making me lose my mind.
