“Uncle Jasper bought him a new squeaky ball, so he decided to stay home and destroy it.” She chuckles, looking around. “Your house is beautiful.”

“Thanks,” I reply, trying to sound nonchalant as if I didn’t spend the morning scrambling to make it look like it wasn’t decorated by a tornado. “I cleaned just for you.”

She laughs and the musical sound sets everything right with the world. “I feel honored,” she teases, and I find myself admiring the way she looks so effortlessly stunning. Her sweater and leggings hug her soft curves perfectly, giving me a small hint at the gorgeous woman beneath.

“Can I take your coat?” I offer, and she hands over her jacket. When her soft skin brushes against mine, a shockwave of desire hits me like a freight train.

“Thank you.” She smiles, and I lose the fight to hold back. Leaning over, I kiss her sweet lips and feel her melt against me. Fireworks blast off behind my closed eyelids as I drag her closer.

My cock wakes the fuck up and I go from zero to sixty instantly. I don’t want to screw this up, so I pull back and lay my forehead against hers. “Are you ready for dinner and a movie?”

“Yes.” She glances up and stares into my eyes. “I’m starving.”

“Have a seat and I’ll grab the pizza out of the oven.” I rush to the kitchen and splash cold water on my face to cool my jets a little bit before returning with the boxes of pizza and plates. “Dig in,” I say, flipping open both box lids. “I didn’t know what kind you like, so I ordered supreme and plain old pepperoni.”

“Perfect.” She grins, grabbing a slice of pepperoni. “Pepperoni is my favorite.” I file that little tidbit of information away as we settle onto the couch like it’s the most natural thing on Earth. “So, what movie are we watching?” she asks between bites.

“Heard there’s a new scary movie everyone’s talking about,” I suggest casually. Truth be told, I’m not totally sold on the spooky stuff, but if it means she has an excuse to sit close to me, I’ll take it.

She raises an eyebrow. “Do I sense an ulterior motive?”

“Who, me?” I say with mock innocence. “I just figured you’d sit close and hold my hand so I don’t get too scared.”

She chuckles. “Don’t worry, I’ll stay close and protect you.”

“Promise?” I ask, as if trying to seal some kind of pact. The playful glint in her eyes warms my heart.

“Of course,” she says. Her smile might be teasing, but there’s warmth there, honest enough to make my insides flutter.

With the pizza sufficiently demolished, we head to the home theater in the back of my house. “Wow.” She glances around the room, her eyes wide. A massive screen dominates the back wall, surrounded by acoustic panels thoughtfully placed to enhance sound quality. The room's lighting is adjustable, with soft dimmable sconces edging the walls. Sleek black recliners are arranged in carefully tiered rows. “This is so fancy.”

“I love to relax in front of the TV,” I shrug, “so I built a relaxing theater for myself.”

“I like it.” The movie starts, and the first ten minutes are all about setting up the scary bits that’ll jump out later. My attention, however, is divided. It’s hard to focus on the impending doom on the screen when Remi’s right here, snuggled against my side. The scent of her vanilla-scented shampoo wafts each time she shifts a little, bringing with it a throbbing ache in my cock.

Her legs are tucked up beside her, and I make a mental note of how perfect this moment is. Her head tilts toward me slightly, and yeah, my plan is definitely working when she latches onto my arm with an “Eep!” at a particularly intense scene. I pretend to be brave, but I’m not above pretending to be a little more scared than I am if it means she stays just like this.

“See?” I murmur softly, “I told you I’d need your bravery.”

“You big baby.” She laughs, though she doesn’t loosen her grip. “If anything jumps out, I’ll be right here.”

The horror movie does its best to create tension, but all I can think about is how close Remi is, nestled comfortably by my side.

Remi’s gaze is fixed on the screen, her eyes widening at each jump scare, but I’m distracted by the way her laugh dances through the air during the film’s awkward attempts at comic relief.

As another dramatic chase scene unfolds onscreen, my attention drifts entirely to her, tracing the outline of her face with my eyes. Her features are highlighted by the dim glow, and I can’t help but notice the way her lips part slightly in anticipation. The movie soundtrack swells, heightening the tension, but it’s nothing compared to the urge to kiss her.

“Piers,” Remi whispers, catching me off guard. There’s a teasing edge in her tone as she asks, “You’re not scared, are you?”

“Oh, terrified,” I reply, leaning closer as if confessing a secret. I can see her smiling now out of the corner of my eye.

In one fluid motion, I tilt toward her, a subtle shift until our faces are just inches apart. The world narrows, the dramatic screams and ominous sound effects on the screen fading into nothingness as I close the gap, kissing her gently.

Her response is immediate, a soft sigh escaping as she melts against me, her body fitting perfectly beside mine. Remi’s hand finds its way across my chest, fingers trailing down the front, leaving a line of fire.

Her lips are soft and inviting, even better than my fantasies. I lose myself in her taste and the feeling of her soft body pressed tight against mine. Before things go too far, I force myself to pull back. When we finally pause for breath, she flashes me a smile that could light up any room. “You have no idea what’s happening in the movie, do you?”

“Honestly?” I raise an eyebrow, completely unfazed by the revelation. “Not a clue.”

“Good.” She chuckles and snuggles into my side. “Because I have no idea either.”

“Then I guess we’ll have to watch it again,” I suggest as a light bulb goes off over my head. “What do you think about us trying it again every night until we get it right?”

“Sounds like a plan to me,” she readily agrees as I make plans to win her heart. “Plus, we need to decorate your house for Christmas.”

“Decorate?” I usually don’t bother since it’s only me.

“This gorgeous house needs Christmas decorations!” Her stunning eyes light up as she claps her hands together. “I freaking love to decorate for Christmas.” She laughs before adding. “And Easter, and Fourth of July, and Halloween.”

If decorating for holidays makes her happy, I’ll turn my house into a goddamn holiday showcase for her year-round.
