“Yes,” Cade and I said at the same time.

“It doesn’t matter where she is,” I said between my teeth. “Get off my property.”

“That’s fucking bullshit,” Cade growled, storming toward me. “And you know it.”

“You just want her for yourself.” I shoved him. “You don’t give a fuck about what I think.”

“You’re right, but you haven’t rejected her yet.”

“She’s not my mate.”

“Keep fucking telling yourself that,” Cade said. “You, me, and everyone here knows that’s a fucking lie, you piece of shit. If you want to make it believable, maybe you shouldn’t sneak over to our house to see her.”

Hazel shoved herself between us and pushed us apart, her hands on each of our chests. “Are you both just going to fight over her when she is in danger?!”

I glared at Cade for a few moments, silently stewing in my own hatred for him.

“Someone took her,” I finally said.

“How do you know?”

“I just fucking know. Someone’s been stalking her.”

Cade shook his head. “Why didn’t you inform me of this?!”

“Because I don’t report to your bitch ass.”

“I’m living with her to protect her.”

“You’re living with her because you like her. Because you want her. You want my mate.” The words came out faster than I had meant them to. I hadn’t wanted to say it aloud once because that would make it real. I growled and shook my head. “It doesn’t matter.”

“Who was it?” Cade asked. “Who’s been stalking her?”

“The Crimson Order. For someone who’s supposed to be protecting her, you didn’t pick up his scent on your property? He was there the other night, watching her. He found her in the forest a couple of days ago. You really had no fucking idea?”

“Oh, yeah, I know everything about the one breed of wolves that can’t be tracked, the mythical breed that nobody actually believes is fucking real, Davix. Sure, I totally knew about someone stalking her.”

“What’s so special about her?” Linda asked, crossing her arms.

Hazel looked over at Linda. “Nobody asked for your opinion, bitch.”

Silas chuckled behind me, and I shot him a glare to shut him up quickly.

“The real question we should be asking is,” Hazel started, brows furrowed together as she looked deep into the dark forest, “if she was taken by the Crimson Order, then … how the hell do we find her? Wolves from the Crimson Order aren’t trackable. They don’t leave evidence when they take someone. And I … I don’t know if anyone has come back alive once they take them.”

No, they didn’t.

“Fuck,” Cade said, turning around again and running his hand through his hair. “Fuck!”

“Alpha,” Matt said, “what are your orders?”

My chest tightened, and I shook my head. “Go find her yourself, Cade. Ember is not my problem anymore.”

I turned around and headed for my packhouse with Linda right behind me, every step feeling heavier than the previous one.

“Are you fucking kidding me?!” Hazel exclaimed. “You’re not serious, Davix!”

“Heal our pack, Hazel,” I said, using my alpha command. “You’re not getting involved in this shit. Ember is Cade’s. She chose him yesterday. She’s his problem. Not mine. Not ours. She’s not your luna. And I don’t care what happens to her.”
