I didn’t have time for his bullshit. Besides, I was pissed at him—at everyone—right now. Why was my body reacting like this? The last thing I remembered was feeling so deathly hot and Cade dunking me into the bathtub. Why was I so hot? Where had he gone?

“Where the fuck is your little boyfriend?” he growled.

“I don’t have a little boyfriend,” I said through my teeth.

“Let. Me. In.”

After flaring my nostrils, I yanked the door open and glared up at him. Droplets of water rolled down my body, dripped off my hair. And Davix stood there, covered in bruising and wounds, matching my glare.

“I’ll give you one chance to tell me the truth. What the fuck did you do with him?”

I furrowed my brows. “What are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about the fucking painting!”

“What painting? You have to be more specific. I have many.”

“The painting with Cade’s fucking cum all over it.”

My eyes widened, and I tugged my towel closer to my body. “How do you know about—”

“It doesn’t fucking matter. Where the fuck is he?”

“I don’t know. Maybe if you stop swearing—”

Before I could finish my sentence, Davix turned around and headed through the upstairs hallway, throwing open all the doors and trying to find Cade. I followed after him because he was fucking crazy for coming here after what happened between them.

“Can you not?!” I exclaimed. “You can’t be here. My brother will be home soon.”

When Davix reached my room, Daisy and Pumpkin jumped up from their comfy spot on my pillow. They hugged each other closer, their eyes wide. Davix growled at them, and they scurried to the window.

I ran ahead of him, putting myself between him and them.

“What is your problem?!” I yelled.

Davix stepped toward me, and I moved backward.

“My problem?”

“Yes, your problem!”

Another step.

Then another.

Then another.

Then the girls were plastered against the window, and I was right there with them, staring up at the huge, saliva-covered canines extending from Davix’s mouth. He placed either of his hands on the window frame beside my head, his claws sinking into the wall.

“My fucking problem is you,” he growled. “It’s been you since you moved to this town.”

“Well, that sounds like something you need to work on yourself,” I whispered.

My heart was pounding inside my chest so hard that I could hear it in my ears. His eyes were dark, focused on me, his muscles swelling. The way he was staring at me … that look on his face … how he was holding himself …

Fuck.

Warmth swarmed in my core again, but I quickly pushed it away. I didn’t want to feel the way that I’d felt earlier. My body had been too hot, and I couldn’t escape the pain. Cade couldn’t help me, and there’s no way that this asshole would either.
