Stupid hoe. I hate him.

“She’s here for a checkup,” she said, placing the clipboard down and ushering him out of the room.

For someone who actively tried to get me and her brother together, she didn’t want him to be in here right now for some reason, and I wasn’t complaining.

I didn’t either.

“You’re lying,” he growled, stopping halfway to the door.

“I’m not.”

“I know when you lie.”

“She’s here for a checkup.”

“At a werewolf hospital? They don’t do checkups here.”

“Oh, and you suddenly know everything about hospitals now?” she said. “Huh?”

“You asked her if she was sick.”

“No, I didn’t.”

“No, she didn’t,” I said, doubling down on the gaslighting because that dickhead deserved it. I crossed my arms over my chest. “Better be careful because it’s starting to seem like you’re actually worried about me.”

Davix glared at me, his eyes glowing gold. “I’m not.”

“Mmhmm, sure.”

“I’m not.”

“Good,” Cade said, shoving him back toward the door. “Because she’s mine.”

A rumble erupted through Davix’s chest. “Fuck you.”

“Anytime you want,” Cade said smugly. “I already have Ember taken care of.”

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Davix

My fist collided with that fucker’s face, throwing him back against the wall next to Ember. Pieces of the plaster crumbled beside him, decorating the floor around his feet. Cade smirked at me, as if he’d won a prize.

But, really, he hadn’t won shit. I had given Ember to him.

If I’d wanted her to be mine, she would’ve been mine the moment I laid my eyes on her.

Cade brushed himself off and opened his big mouth to spew more garbage in my direction, and so I forced him to eat another fist. Ember scrambled up in the bed, yanking at my bicep and yelling at me to leave him alone.

But my wolf wouldn’t let me.

The wider Cade’s smirk got, the harder I hit him. One, two, eight, twelve punches. I didn’t know how many times I’d hit him, but his healing between fists was slowing, which meant this asshole would break eventually.

“Davix!” Ember screamed, on my back now. “Stop it!”

“Get off me, Ember,” I growled, holding back another punch.

“Why do you have to be such an asshole?! Stop it!”
