I couldn’t.
“Ember needs to go home,” I snarled, shifting into my wolf and sprinting through the woods toward the direction of my packhouse.
She had to stay home without anyone around and without the option of leaving until after the full moon.
Or else she’d be attacked again.
Or worse … marked. And not by me.
Chapter Twenty-One
Ember
“Davix!” I screamed, banging on the door with the side of my fist. “Let me out of here. Now!”
That stupid asshole had locked me in his bedroom, by myself, for hours. No contact with Hazel. No contact with any of his staff—and he had a lot. No contact even with him. Nothing! Doors locked, windows locked, closet locked so I couldn’t even snoop around!
“You dumb hoe, I will kill you when I get out of here if you don’t—”
Before I could finish my sentence, the door swung open, and Davix stood in the hallway. His nostrils flared, his hair a wild mess, and his canines covered in blood. My eyes widened, and I stepped back.
Not because I was scared of him, but because I was scared of how sexy he looked right now. If I wasn’t careful, I might jump his bones, and I was supposed to be furious at him right now. Stupid hormones.
“I’m not in the fucking mood,” Davix growled.
“Where did you go?”
“None of your business.”
“Why did you lock me here?”
“Because.”
I crossed my arms and glared up at him, lips pursed. “Great answer.”
“Don’t be a bitch right now, Ember. I’m not in the fucking mood.”
My eyes widened. “Me? I’m the bitch? Excuse me, but I didn’t lock a stranger in their bedroom for multiple hours without any food or anything to do except contemplate the very short life she has le—you know what? Never mind. I’m leaving.”
Deciding that I had already revealed too much in those last few sentences, I attempted to stomp right past him. But Davix grasped my upper arm and stopped me in my tracks, shoving me back into the room.
“You’re not leaving this house.”
“I’m going home.”
“Not by yourself.”
“It’s late.”
“Exactly why you’re not going by yourself.”
“I have people waiting for me.”
“Too bad.”
I threw my hands up. “You want me to spend the rest of my life here?!”
If that is the case, might as well just end it all now.
