“I don’t care,” I said again, staying as calm as I could in front of her.

“You really don’t care?” she said.

And if she was asking, that meant that my acting was believable.

“No, I don’t care. I already told you that I would reject her.”

She stared at me blankly for a couple of moments, and then her brows drew together. “Oh …”

For weeks, she had pushed and pushed and pushed for us to get together. She knew deep down that I might break. But now? It was just a soft, “Oh.” Which meant … she wasn’t going to push anymore.

My chest tightened. Part of me wanted her to push.

I liked it. I needed it. My wolf needed it.

But I couldn’t.

This was for the best.

Someone knocked on the doorframe, and I looked behind me to see Matt.

“Cade is here to see you,” he said.

I ran a hand through my hair and followed him out the door without saying another word to my sister. She didn’t attempt to say another word to me either, just stayed quiet.

“What do you think he wants?” Matt asked, directing me out the door to the pack prison.

“I know exactly what he wants.”

There were two prisoners in my dungeon, and Cade wasn’t going to know about either of them. I wasn’t going to let him. They were my prisoners, and I would do what I wanted with them.

Once we finally reached the prison, Cade stood outside with a guard, fuming.

“Where are they?” he asked, glaring at me.

“I don’t know who you’re talking about.”

“Don’t fuck around with me,” he growled, grabbing my throat in his hand and shoving me up against a tree. “Where the fuck are they? You’re going to start a war.”

“Who are you talking about?” I asked again.

“The leader of Braveclaw and the guy from the Crimson Order.”

“I don’t have them.”

“Bullshit.”

“You don’t believe me?” I asked, opening the door. “Go fucking check for yourself.”

“I will,” Cade said, shoving past me and heading into the dungeon.

He had been in there countless times when he was still in my pack, torturing souls. He knew every square foot of that prison. Everywhere except the Underground.

We had built that after he left. I didn’t want somebody in Braveclaw to know about it. I had two fuckers down there that nobody could ever know about. Nobody except those in my pack. And everyone who knew had been sworn to secrecy.

They knew if they spilled anything to anyone, I’d kill them.

Once he was finished checking every room twice in my prison for both of them, he returned upstairs. I had made sure that there wasn’t even a trace of their scent down there. I knew how to hide them, and he wasn’t going to find them.
