abqturkeysnhl (June 22, 2012): Welcome to Albuquerque! Please join us in welcoming New Mexico’s newest turkey
With their first-round pick, the Albuquerque Turkeys have drafted DYLAN EVERETT! Everett is a right-winger from Washington state. He just finished his freshman year at Boston College, where he led his team in a Frozen Four victory over Dartmouth. He also played for Team USA at the World Junior Championship, where he won silver and scored 5 goals throughout the tournament.
Everett is the second overall pick for this 2012 draft class, and we look forward to seeing him in red and brown this fall!
abqturkeysnhl (June 22, 2012): добро пожаловать в Albuquerque / Welcome to Albuquerque!
Another round, another turkey With their second-round pick, the Albuquerque Turkeys have drafted ALEXEI SOKOLOV! Sokolov is a Russian center currently playing for HC Sochi. He’s second on his team in assists and has the highest face-off win percentage in the KHL. We can’t wait to see him here in the States in red and brown!
turkeytalk (September 26, 2012): Everett played every game in the preseason and looked exceptional. Hard skating, big hits, and lots of shots. Can’t wait to see how he does when it counts next week! Viewing party for the Season Opener will be at THE TURKEY TROT in downtown Albuquerque per usual - all Turkey Fans welcome!
abqturkeysnhl (October 2, 2012): DYLAN EVERETT #12 plays in his first NHL game TONIGHT vs the Philadelphia Gliders! Make sure you’re ready for puck drop @ 7 PM! GO TURKEYS!
↪ abqturkeysnhl (October 2, 2012): WELCOME TO THE NHL! Dylan Everett score on his first shot in his first game
turkeytalk (October 28, 2012): 10 games in and Dylan Everett leads the Turkeys in goals with 7. Can we call him a generational talent yet? Savior of the Turkeys? King of Hockey? After that sweet goal vs the Terrors last night, I’m a believer #sorrynotsorry
gobblegoals (November 15, 2012): I would like to welcome our Lord and Savior Dylan Everett to the Turkeys bro is ON FIRE. I have never seen such a fantastic shot
abqturkeysnhl (January 7, 2013): We’re halfway through the season and Dylan Everett leads the Turkeys with 27 goals. That puts him in a tie for third in the league and the highest among all players in the 2012 draft class.
turkeytalk (January 10, 2013): the Turkeys currently hold the third playoff spot in the Central Division - they’ve been doing great but really need some consistency. Everett’s carrying that top line. The kid’s a beast, but GM pls pls pls get him a good center and winger to balance things out
abqturkeysnhl (February 2, 2013): After the injury to Fredericks, the TURKEYS are calling ALEXEI SOKOLOV #94 up from their AHL team to finish out the season. He’s projected to center the second line and will make his NHL debut TONIGHT against the Houston Pirates.
Transcript from an interview with Dylan Everett, February 2, 2013.
Interviewer: How have you been enjoying Albuquerque so far?
Dylan Everett: It’s a great city. Not quite what I’m used to. I grew up in Washington state, played a lot of junior hockey in northern PA and New York, went to Boston for college. I’m kinda dreading the summer.
I: You’ve had a breakout rookie season. First, you scored a goal on your first shot in your first game, and then you’ve been averaging 1.1 points per game. Has your first season been everything you’d hoped it would be?
DE: So far it’s been great. I was hoping to make a splash, and I think so far I have, but there are still a lot of games left, and obviously we’re planning to make the playoffs.
I: How has it been being the youngest on the team? The Turkeys haven’t had an 18-year-old in the lineup consistently since your captain Weiss was drafted in 2006.
DE: The guys have been great. I got Keaton offering to help me out if anyone gives me trouble, but I told him not to worry, I can handle it. There’s just a lot of experience on the team, and it’s helped me adjust my game to match the speed and intensity of the NHL.
I: And the coaches? In training camp before the season started, it seemed like they were pretty hard on you.
DE: All my best coaches have been hard on me. I appreciate that, honestly. I don’t want them to let things slide. I obviously want to play on the first line, but I want to be good enough and have that be the reason why I’m there. I’m willing to earn my place on the team, and I think the coaches see that and respond to it.
I: The All-Star weekend is coming up in a few days - how excited are you to participate and represent the Turkeys?
DE: I’m always happy to represent my team, even though it’s kind of intimidating to go head-to-head with the league’s best. I hope they put me in the accuracy contest. I think that’d be my best category. Maybe hardest shot. I think I could break 100 miles per hour.
I: After the All-Star break, I’m sure the focus for the team will be making the playoffs. Your teammate, Frederick, was injured last game. I know it’s early to speculate since he’s still being evaluated, but how would losing him impact the team?
DE: Freds is a great center. Obviously, we’d prefer to have him healthy than not, and hopefully, the week off’ll be enough time for him to recover. But we’ve got a lot of depth if you look at our AHL team. There are a lot of guys there who would love the call-up and would do great.
Dylan (February 2013)
This is Dylan Everett, coach said they were calling you up to finish the season with the team and that you were looking for a roommate?
I’ve got a guest room if you need it. There’s a bed and that’s about it.
