Don’t know
Nover is going back with the team to pick up his family
When are you heading to Montreal?
I was going to leave the night after the Montana game
Didn’t see the point of flying to Albuquerque just to go in the opposite direction
Do you need to go back home?
No I could probably manage with what I’ve got
We could spend the day together in Montana
No game, no team.....
Yes. That. Let’s do that
:D
abqturkeysnhl (January 29, 2024): GOAL #550 FOR THE CAPTAIN - Dylan Everett scored his 550th career goal in the 2nd period versus the Mustangs. That puts him at #31 on All-Time NHL Goals Leaders List. With 43 this season, he is leading the league in goals as we head into the All-Star Break. Make sure to watch the All-Star Game to cheer on Everett!
turkeytalk (January 29, 2024): What kind of maniac would’ve predicted Everett would hit 550 by the end of January? Turns out they were RIGHT. What a fantastic feat for Everett, especially after all that talk that he was “no longer relevant” when Sokolov left
↪ @gobblegoals: happy maniac right here and the denial was strong after sokolov left. but to be fair, he had a mid year last year. still top fifteen in league scoring, but nowhere near as dominant as he can and should be
luc-henri-sourit (January 29, 2024): il sourit! After a week without a single smile, we are blessed with the pictures of him after Everett scored some magic goal or something. No idea why this goal is so special, but so very happy to see Baptiste is happy with his assist :)
CHAPTER 55
Dylan was fidgeting a lot. They’d beaten the Mustangs, they’d gone out for steaks and champagne after Dylan’s 550th goal, and now they were heading back to the hotel like kings. Or rather, knights in their king’s court. Everyone was excited for Dylan on the milestone, though he insisted it wasn’t a real one.
“I want 562,” Dylan grumbled, though too quietly for anyone but Henri to hear. Henri understood. Dylan didn’t want to seem like he was ungrateful for the attention, didn’t want to be dismissive because it absolutely was an achievement that only 30 other people had ever achieved in the history of the NHL, but Dylan had already set his sights on being the best American-born goal scorer.
“Oh no,” Henri said. “Your team and your fans love you. How terrible that they want to celebrate their captain.”
“Shut up,” he said without any bite. He looked pleased, though he wouldn’t meet Henri’s gaze head-on. “It’s embarrassing. Like, I didn’t do anything. You basically just redirected it off my blade. Your assist was way better than the goal.”
Henri shrugged. He had to feign how casual he felt about that assist. In the record books next to Dylan Everett’s name, there’d be a little asterisk next to that goal that said it came from Luc-Henri Baptiste. A small proof that their paths crossed. “I’m afraid assist 157 isn’t very interesting.”
At this, Dylan’s head snapped around. “We missed 150?”
“You’ve been complaining that the 50s aren’t real milestones—”
“Fuck, Baps. We missed it. I should’ve gotten you that puck!”
“I don’t need that puck,” Henri assured him. “I don’t even know how many career assists I have. I just said a number.”
He knew. He absolutely knew. But he didn’t want Dylan to think he cared. 150 was chump change, considering how many he’d thought he’d get over his career. Embarrassingly low. Dylan was legitimately working on breaking and setting records. What did Henri’s milestones matter in comparison?
Dylan looked at him dubiously. “Well, I’m not fucking forgetting 200.”
Henri answered with a wry smile. He might not even be in Albuquerque next season. 200 might be a nonissue.
They were late enough back to the hotel that there was only a small contingent who decided to take over the lobby while most went to the elevators. They were a day away from the All-Star Break; they wanted to save what energy they had for their families.
“Good luck in Vancouver, Evers,” Briggs said as he got off on the fifth floor. He fistbumped Dylan then turned to Henri and offered his hand. “See you next week, Baps.”
