turkeytalk (January 21, 2024): Luc-Henri Baptiste has assisted on Dylan Everett’s last 12 goals. The last person to assist on 12 consecutive Everett goals? No one! Sokolov’s record was 9.

↪ gobblegoals: my feed is currently nothing but memes about how baptiste is better than sokolov and I AM HERE FOR IT. sokolov was my boy when he played for us, but he was always a little dirty. the only reason we overlooked it was because he was OUR angry gremlin with a bad attitude and he was best friends with golden retriever in human form Dylan Everett. something about his ditching us in the middle of the night like a common criminal made it real easy to dislike him.

↪ turkeytalk: Everett had a bad season last year (and that’s with a huge asterisk because a bad Dylan Everett season is still top six player on any other team) but all the talk was how Sokolov was the reason Everett could score blah blah blah. Everett is a good scorer. He could score with anyone…..but any player will tell you it’s easier to do their job when the guys on your line can keep up with you. Sokolov could keep up with Everett. So can Baptiste. The real question that we need to ask: could Sokolov keep up with Baptiste? Because I’m thinking more and more he could not.

↪ gobblegoals: baptiste is like a houseplant that someone kept in a dark corner and only watered once a month and everyone was surprised it wasn’t as green as it could be. the turkeys gave him what he needed and he is THRIVING.

↪ turkeytalk: Agreed. We play the Storm again in less than a week…I’m thinking that’s The Game. It is a 4 point game versus a divisional rival who is in a much better playoff position. That game sets the tone for these Turkeys. Have they vanquished the past and gotten over the mess Sokolov caused? Are they ready to show up and do some damage in the playoffs?

abqturkeysnhl (January 23, 2024): Tough OT loss to the Scorpions. The Turkeys held onto a 1-0 lead until late in the third period when the Scorpions went empty net and scored with less than twenty seconds left in regulation.

Everett is at 548 goals - remember when I said he might possibly hit 550 before the end of January? He’s been on a scoring streak lately and still has three games left this month. We are on 550 watch, people. Turn on your TVs next Thursday when they’re in Chicago. It would be poetic to see him hit the mark while playing against Sokolov. Just saying.
