I spill into her, hot ropes coating her insides in a delicious declaration. Mine. Mine. Mine.

She bites her lip as I let her down gently, a giggle escaping her sweet mouth.

She’s perfect. So damn perfect.

Cupping her cheek, I drop a kiss to her lips before pulling her into me. I can’t remember being this happy. I could have waited the year for her, but God, I’m glad we’re not. I’m ready to make this partnership official.

We towel dry off, and Indy grabs a few things from the spare room to bring into our room. As she slips under the covers, I send my final email for the day, noting that we’ve already got an email from Mr. Manus confirming he’ll have his lawyers get in touch with mine tomorrow regarding the sale.

“Is that Manus?” she asks.

“Yeah, we’ll hear from the lawyers tomorrow.”

She checks her phone too and sharply inhales.

“Maverick.”

“Yes, sweetheart?” I say innocently. Knowing she’ll have noted my email to the team.

“Hi team, please note that Miss Winters and I are in a relationship. Nothing will change operation-wise. Please continue to act in your normal professional selves in light of this news. Mav and Indy.”

“You are diabolical. We should have at least spoken to HR first.” She slaps playfully at my chest, and I snatch her wrist so I can kiss her knuckles.

“Why?” I shrug. “There’s no going back now. Besides, I am HR. And I am absolutely fine with it.”

She giggles, her eyes lighting up like the glistening lights of the city down below. We’re going to run this city. I’ve never felt so sure of anything in my entire life. She’s the missing piece. The part of me that always felt like I couldn’t have the things that I wanted. That I didn’t deserve them. She’s shown me she’ll show up without ever putting her own dreams on hold.

“I love you, sweetheart.”

“I love you too, Mav.”
