Something quiet passes between us. A warmth in his ice blue eyes.

He believes in us.

He believes in me.

“Thank you,” I say.

I collect my jacket and phone.

Alice reaches for us on the way out. Her right hand finds Bryce’s. Her left finds mine.

Eli opens the door for the three of us.

I give him a wink on the way past.

“Goodnight, Ace.”

“Enjoy your someones, Jack. You deserve it. So do they.”

I walk out of The Argent with Bryce and Alice beside me.

Not hidden. Not apologising. Not playing down the truth of the relationship.

Just three people in love… going home.

CHAPTER FIFTY-EIGHT

ALICE

The three of us tumble through Jack’s front door on a wave of adrenaline.

Bryce is laughing. Actually laughing, his swollen hand clutched against his chest, clearly fucking painful after punching Christopher smack-bang-whallop in the face.

Jack is laughing even harder.

“I still can’t believe you did that, BT.”

“Neither can I.”

“You nearly knocked him off his feet.”

“I know.”

“Fantastic technique.”

“I had no technique.”

“Exactly. Raw talent.”

Bryce attempts to look disapproving, but the smile keeps breaking through.

I close the door behind us.

For one moment, I stand with my back against it and look at them. Both of them.

Jack in his dark suit, blond hair no longer perfectly styled. Bryce with his swollen red knuckles and open collar. Both of them alive, safe, and here with me.

My heroes.
