His smile came slowly.
“Exactly.”
I rolled my eyes, but there was no stopping mine.
“Luna!”
Mila yelled from downstairs.
“See?” I pointed toward the hallway. “Your other child needs you.”
“Our other child,” he corrected.
Something in my chest squeezed.
“Go.”
He finally did.
I stood there for another second after he left, my hand falling naturally to the place his had just been.
Then I shook my head and finished getting dressed.
Twenty-five minutes later, Chapter & Charm came into view.
The new sign had gone up last month.
I still slowed down every time I saw it.
Not because the name had changed.
I would never change the name.
But beneath CHAPTER & CHARM, there were smaller letters now.
BOOKS • COFFEE • COMMUNITY
The expansion had taken almost a year.
A year of permits and contractors and me nearly losing my mind over paint samples.
A year of Ellis reminding me that I could ask for help.
A year of actually learning to do it.
Maya ran the café side now.
Naomi still claimed she was the only reason the bookstore hadn’t burned to the ground.
