“You didn’t have to.”

Luna laughed, and Mr. Harris shook his head before pulling out the chair beside his wife.

She kept going.

Some she passed straight to him. Others she held a little longer before moving to the next. Every few pictures, she asked me something about the size or whether one would look right framed a certain way.

By the time she reached the second stack, Luna had moved closer to the table too.

Mrs. Harris got to the picture of them walking together and stopped.

I recognized it before she turned it around.

Her hand was in his, neither one of them paying attention to me.

“Oh, I love this one.”

Mr. Harris leaned over.

“Which one?”

“This.”

He took it from her.

For the first time since we got there, neither one of them had anything to say.

Mrs. Harris reached for it again after a few seconds.

“I didn’t know you took this.”

“You weren’t supposed to.”

She looked up at me. “What does that mean?”

“You were walking. I took the picture.”

“You didn’t tell us to hold hands?”

“No.”

Her eyes dropped back to the print.

“Huh.”

Mr. Harris smiled. “You grabbed mine.”

“Apparently.”

“You don’t remember?”

“No.”

“I do.”

She looked at him. “No, you don’t.”

“I remember everything.”
