“I know.”
My eyes came back to his.
“Was it okay that I said it back?”
His expression softened. “Luna.”
“I’m just asking.”
“Of course it was okay.”
I nodded, even though something in my chest still felt too full.
Ellis reached for my hand. “Come on.”
I laced my fingers through his and followed him back toward the living room.
The television was still on, but Ellis turned the volume down until it was mostly background noise.
“So how you feeling?”
“About what?”
He looked at me.
I smiled. “The magazine.”
“You’ve had a few hours now.”
“It still feels a little unreal.”
“Somebody wants to write about your bookstore.”
“I know.”
“That’s a big deal.”
I looked down at my hands. “It is.”
His hand settled over mine.
“You did that, Luna.”
I looked at him.
“You built something people want to know about.”
My throat tightened before I could stop it.
“You trying to make me cry?”
“No.”
“Feels like it.”
He smiled. “I’m just saying.”
I leaned into him. “Thank you.”
