Naomi waved me off and started walking away.
I looked back at the email.
A minute ago, I wasn’t expecting anything from that day besides finishing payroll and figuring out why three copies of a new release still hadn’t shown up.
Now somebody wanted to write about Chapter & Charm.
My store.
I smiled and reached for my phone without thinking.
Ellis’s name was already on the screen before I realized who I’d decided to call.
Ellis answered.
“Hey.”
“Are you busy?”
“A little. Why?”
“I have to tell you something.”
There was a pause.
“Okay.”
I smiled.
“Chapter & Charm is getting featured in a magazine.”
“What?”
“A local one. They’re doing something on independent businesses downtown, and they emailed me asking if I’d do an interview.”
“Luna.”
I laughed. “Okay, okay.”
“That’s big.”
“That’s what Naomi said.”
“Because it is.”
“It’s not like—”
“Don’t.”
I stopped.
“What?”
“Whatever you were about to say to make it smaller.”
My smile faded into something softer.
“You and Naomi are annoying.”
